Okay what the hell is up with everyone? Is there any way you can filter the crap that people upload? I've downloaded 20 videos of which ONLY 6 had a video quality that is watchable. Of those six (and this is at least forgivable) 2 had nothing to do with song or anime. Hell they were just scenes put to music. It didn't even cut with the music!

Most horrible things about the videos that are put up today:

1. software to make the video is available for free now, so a large number of really horrible-can't-even-see-what's-going-on videos are being made. STOP IT. We have the technology to make DVD quality footage now. If you can't do that learn how. Don't post until then.

2. NOBODY WANTS TO SEE LINKIN PARK DBZ videos. If you make one for the first time great. Don't share it. Same goes for Evanescence - Bring me to life. The horse is dead and it's been beaten enough. There's not even a bloodstain left. You're just beating the ground now.

3. Sound Quality should be at least to the radio standards. If you would change the channel on the station if it played the song then ditch it.

4. Finally, be considerate. Look at your video objectively. If you would delete the file after watching half of it (or even all of it) don't upload it. You're just crowding out the good videos that are hard enough to find as is.
This guys rocks.

I take offense to that
>_< How can you take offense to that? It's a statistical statement. Anyone can get windows movie maker for free. Most just pirate stuff off Kazza or some other filesharing program. The number of people who just make videos for the hell of it are increasing.
Heh. I believe, R_S, that trythil takes offense to that because he, unlike most people, uses a truly legally free editing program that is at the same time rather powerful- Cinerella. It's a free Linux program... (well, free monetarily... the time to set it up however is non-trivial, I believe...)

I have to say, I agree with this guy... I'm totally for this opinion. That "New vid on the Block" section in the members guide is flooded with Linkin' Bark Z Low Quality Goodness ^_^

Instead, why don't you, DOWNLOAD MY VIDEOS AND OPINIONATE THEM TOO!!!!

I won't take offense to anything, simply becuase that word's been used to the point where I'd feel like a dope jumping on the chain and saying it also. But you're throwing everything that's been made in the last 10 (?) days in one category? And everything you've downloaded had poor quality? Why were you downloading dbz-lp vids to begin with? And if you're supposed to hold onto a video until you're a good amv maker, how are you supposed to know when you *are* a good editor?

The sad fact is that a lot of us don't know our videos are crap until after the fact - once we've had feedback and had considerate people tell us what we're doing wrong. You don't get that sort of help by holding your videos until you've come to some spontaneous realization that *this* is how you make a good video. Maybe it happens for some, but not many.

And then there are the people who are uploading things to share with friends, who couldn't care less if the 'good' editors like them. And some of those people uploading 'crap' as you called it, are donators. Maybe good amv makers have donated more, but once you give to the org, I do think you should be allowed to take advantage of the opportunity without having your videos edited before upload. What you're asking for here is that 'bad' videos be sorted out of the mix. And where would something like that lead?

To a place where only 'good' videos are allowed, in which case it'll be nothing more than a competition between the con-submitters and those who do this for pride and satisfaction in their skills. And when there are few people who meet that standard of amv-making, the creativity will plummet faster than you'd believe. One thing I can say is that no matter how many 'crappy' quality vids flood in here, among those are different people, different styles waiting to be improved on, different ideas, and that should not be hindered.

Yes, I agree that it sucks to download a video in blurry and crackling rm format, or fizzing wmv, but you know what format the video is in long before you download it, so there's no one to blame except the one watching the poor quality and then complaining about it. If you just want to see the good amv makers, by all means go to the star list and grab the videos with more than 30 stars - or go to the top 10% list. You'll get the 'good' videos and not have to worry about downloading something made by crappy editors or people without the money to afford capture cards and dvdroms. Or, if you really want to change things, start reporting the people who have used downloaded clips in their amvs. That's against the rules, so if you want a crusade, it shouldn't be hard to eliminate a large number of the videos you're complaining about just by bringing them to amv-justice. :?
