Is this normal? [Lack of AMV motivation]

Post by SnhKnives » Wed Jun 25, 2003 11:30 pm

Is it normal for most AMV vreators to get sort of tired, or unenthused about an AMV about half way through creation? I have been working on my current project for a while now, and im about half way done, and i have been for about 2 weeks. I want to finish it up and get a chance to enter in AWA con, but im just so, like......... not feeling it. I can't concentrate or come up with ideas at the moment> I feel like doing a different project and use some new editing techniques that ive learned from the past month or two. Does this happen to anyone else?

Only 2 weeks?! :O

Sheesh, it takes me three months to get halfway done with a usual project...I guess I just suck :P

But yeah, it's normal. The best thing to do is just to step away and do something else.

Yea, if you are tired, don't force it, just pack it away and maybe one day you will feel like coming back to finish it. Or perhaps just rethink whether or not you even want to finish making the video. It could be that it just isn't working out... sounded good on paper, but isnt panning out how you wanted it.

Exactly... I have to go do something else for awhile, like play a game or read a good book, and soon the bug will hit me again.

if you aren't "feeling" the video at the moment, or even just don't feel like working on it, then just put it aside and work on something else for awhile, it's perfectly normal for creators to start and feel tired(for lack of better word) of working on a vid they have devoted alot of time on, you get that anime pounded into yr head over and over and same with the song. And who knows, maybe while working on another project you will think of something good you can do with the video on hold. i know i get ideas for other videos while working on annother amv.

I would agree ( STEP AWAY FROM THE AMV ) when that happends I just do something else till I feel like working on it, maybe like work on 10 secs of vid at the most on some days. I think inspiration falters before most projects are done, Just don't rush it cause you may ruin it.

I hate editing. I know this feeling better than anyone. Play some thing? Read a good book. [or in my case, the Ragnarok: Into the Abyss manga] Draw something... etc.

[*I think it's cause of my innate passion to MUST HAVE fx in a video these days...]

My call, procrastination won't hurt a video more than "forcing the editing". If you do that, you'll end up with...

*shameless plug

Nothing sucks more than when you release a vid that's WORSE than a previous release. That link for me is one of them...
