Not that I dissagree with you or anything, but oh man, are you in for it now.Savia wrote:I think that the dubs for Cowboy Bebop and Noir are the only ones that truly surpassed their respective originals. I first saw Eva dubbed, so I'm more used to it that way, but I have no real preference between the two as they are both good. Although the English-language Misato is far superior to the original one, IMO.
The God-like dubs... We salute you!

[quote="Cole"]Record of Lodoss War OVA wasn't bad. (don't remember who did that one, U.S. Manga Corp, I think)
Macross Plus wasn't too shabby. (Manga?)
You're Under Arrest OVA's (Animeigo, I love that company)
Gunsmith Cats (ADV, I think)
I can't list any "God-like" dubs, though I admit that Cowboy Bebop is the king of all dubs I've ever seen.
Off-topic, I noticed a few familiar voices pop up in Xenosaga (I heard Gould from MacPlus and Milly from Trigun, and KOS-MOS sounded familiar, too). Alot of video games these days are doing great voice work. (I won't say they're doing better than localized anime because you asked us not to badmouth dubs

Rune Soldier Louie... [hey, when the dub is just damn FUNNIER than the sub, fuck the sub :p]
GTO [yes, David Lucas PWNS...]
Bastard OAV [this was the FIRST anime I heard David in and when I heard him in Bebop, it's like, OH YEAH NINJA'S BACK ^_^]
How could I forget Shinesman and anything else by Media Blasters [also in cahoots with Anime Works...]

Actually... I don't watch much anime dubbed.
However... here are some dubs I wanted to mention on this thread.
1) Cowboy Bebop - Best dub I have heard. Only anime EVER where I prefer the dub to the Japanese
2) Ranma 1/2
3) Spirited Away
4) NieA_7

I would have to say that the Castle in the Sky and Spirited Away dubs are great, though I am not a fan of big name actors doing the voices
I think that Bandai and Pioneer have the best dubs because of a new computer system that can stretch and skew the words to match without losing quality
Just watch the new X series dub, they don't skip a beat

Slayers and hellsing are so much better dubbed. Lina is played by megumi Hayshibara in the sub
Shes sounds like a hyperspastic little girl instead of a mad redhead. And hellsing english people played with english accents!!! what a concept. Of course Alucard is american but who cares hes the vampire. Kenshin dub is way better also because kenshins voice is Omg a guy!!!! Ranma dub is ok but I can't say it's better than the sub especially since viz has a habit of adding in things and avoiding cultural references.
