Title/studio screens?
How important do you think title screens and/or studio bumpers are in AMVs? And if you use them, how much effort do you really think should be put into it?
My crappy little studio bumper is just a still image, but I've seen some pretty elaborate ones. Does a flashy studio bumper raise your expectations of the actual video?
And I don't see too many videos with actual title screens, so I'm wondering if people think that identifying and giving your video a title has gone down in importance. On my last video, my title screen was Photoshop manipulation that took me about 4 hours to put together, and the title screen of my next video took me about 45 minutes to do.
And just as a sidenote, why do Cons seem to be cropping out the studio/title bumpers on AMV entries? It may save time, but it breeds a LOT of frustration when you go to a Con, see a good video, but can't find it because you don't know the creator, title, or music used.
Thoughts?

I find it is one of those things that some feel is important and some that dont. I like putting bumpers in my videos basically just because I can. I do 3D modeling and animation so it is always fun to make intros.

I like having the song/anime info, personally. I'll download stuff from series or artists I don't know, and if I find the AMV on my hard drive later, it's nice to know I can always check on what that cool song/anime was. Not to mention that it's nice to give people credit for their work within the work itself, thanks to things like Kazaa.
Simple reason, but I'm a simple person.
'Course, this is as long as it doesn't cover the video itself. I know the MTV style does that, but I'd rather have it clear of the actual video. *shrugs*

I think it's better to have atleast the song/anime used and contact information for the artist. (such as a website or email/icq or something.)
I've been intoduced to a few anime just because of amv's and if they didn't have SOME sort of bumper, i would treck for ages trying to find th particular anime or song.
Doesn't have to be extremely flashy, but it's nice to see a 'studio' have a short tag on their vids so you can open it and say "hey it's this guy again, cool"
as for conventions, I have no idea.. I have never been to one (though I would LOVE to) but I would think it is only logical to have even a 2 second bumper giving contact details incase you see a good video...
Maybe they expect you to actually ask and they check their records? surely they must have a record on site with everyone's videos and details...
i hope that's valid enough for ya

I personally don't place a huge amount of importance on the intro bumpers to my videos..
when I first started I had a crappy picture.. which I dumped..
and more recently, I've been using a template for mine which just has a screenshot, the video title, creator's name (the same template is used for all video from my studios), web address and e-mail.
at the end I go into the song and anime details.
each one takes me a total of 3 minutes to make in photoshop, which I then save an import into premiere as a PSD file...

I think they're important because I always like to know who made the video, the contact info/website, and the song/performer names.
I really don't care if they're a still pic, some cgi animation, or whatever. Just as long as they get the job done.
