In my opinion, its ok to take donations for whatever you want. I mean, they are DONATIONS, no one is being forced to pay. A girl got donations to get a boob job done, so I see nothing wrong with taking donations for whatever reason, even just "i want some money plz donate :)"

Con's can't afford as much as peopel think...

and AMV equipment is rather expensive... and alot of the equipment to get it right can't be rented... so no con can justify the cost for a single use per year

I guess what I am trying to think about... i what besides donations are still considered acceptable for fund raising?

and this is not a specific question... right now I am just trying to stimulate discussion

then what methods would be acceptable... or is donation it?
Said Cause would have to be associated with a convention. I would not send my money to the causes' organizers unless I knew them and was personally invovled in the cause. In terms of donating money, I would send money to the convention organizers, who would then be in charge of allocating funds to the cause's organizers. While a tad bit more complex, this would provide some level of accountability and a paper trail.

I think it could be cool to have dvds of convention documentories like Machine used to make, and sell these at the convention for maybe 10-20 bucks a disc? I know I would buy them :\
Con's could have a new one each year, detailing the previous years con... or something.

Conflaguation? =\ Ushicon was not too thrilled about that doc but Akon didn't seem to have a problem with it.

:: chuckles ::

the docs seam to be a wildly varied topic...

but on the fund raising side of things...

it sounds like donations are the proper way of doing it... since anytime you sell something amv related peopel get... touchy...
