Old PC games (or programs in general)?

Post by BishounenStalker » Thu Jun 19, 2003 8:59 pm

What are the oldest PC games or fun programs you guys own (or have owned) or remember playing/using?

Mine:

Zork I, II, and III -- I've been a fan of the Infocom's Zork series for a long, long time. I had the original 1983 versions with my first computer, a Commodore 64. Unfortunately, the games had to go with the computer when we gave it away. Although I'm very curious what collectors might pay for the games.

Legacy of the Ancients -- Before we finally gave up the old dinosaur of a Commodore 64 as a donation to a retirement home, this was the second oldest PC game I actually owned. And I could kick myself for giving it away with the C64. Mine was a vintage 1987 Commodore version, which could fetch $45+ on Ebay with collectors now. But all is not lost. A newly encoded modern PC version is available for download at LegacyOfTheAncients.com

SimEarth -- The forerunner of all subsequent Sims. I don't know where the original 3.5" diskettes are, but I have the original box it came in back in 1990.

Champions of Krynn
Death Knights of Krynn
Dark Queen of Krynn
-- Advanced Dungeons and Dragons for the PC, I still have the original 3.5" diskettes AND the original box AND the instruction manuals. All vintage 1990.

Return to Zork -- The second Zork game produced after Infocom teamed up with ActiVision, and the first of the series to employ a completely graphical environment as opposed to the text-based games, this one has reached the status of classic for me. I have the game and the instruction manual, but not the box. Vintage 1993.

Nickelodeon Director's Lab -- My first experience with video editing software! ::schnoogles it:: I have the original CD-ROM, original jewel case, and stand-up quick reference guide. Might try re-installing it one of these days for nostalgia's sake. Vintage 1995.

Well, that about does it for my oldies. Anyone else?

Indiana Jone and the Fate of Atlantis: I spent $45 calling the Lucasarts game line thanks to those stupid moonstone things!

Full Throttle: Fun biker game. Too bad the main voice actor passed away :(

Doom 1, Doom 2, and Final Doom: Beat them all without cheating. The trick is to save, retry, clear out room.

Quake 1: REAPERBOTS!

Warcrafts 1, 2 and expansion: 2 is still the best.

Return to Zork: Want some rye? Of course ya do!

Command And Conquer (original) - Warcraft is better :P

Oldest PC game I own the media to: Septerra Core:Legacy Of The Creator. Or maybe Fallout.

Some of the good old games were Raptor: Call Of The Shadows, Wolfenstein 3D, Commander Keen, and a lot of the old Apogee shareware titles. Plus Duke Nukem 3D.

Shittiest game I own: Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood Of Steel. Thank god I bought it used off of Ebay.
I'm out...
