See like really dislike money shot even though he probably did do a good job with the video I willn't rate it because I dislike it. I'm not a person that is out to hurt peoples averages but at the same time I want to help. Am I making any scenes in this forum.
Yeah that makes sense..your previous statements weren't as clear.

Just like you, I want to help and thus I grade fairly and justify my scoring in hopes that it will in turn help the creator out. If you get bad (or even good) marks without a real explanation, that's when I get angry.

I am thinking that since you privately asked me to review your video that those reviews in the past ARE helpful. BTW I will get on that some time today.

Being #1 automatically makes you a target of every fan of the other vids.

I mean theres probably alot of vids that get "attacked" but if they can recover then they truely deserve to be on the list. Theres also alot of ppl that make other accounts to boost their rating, I remember seeing yours at number 1 and seeing you got opinions from a jimhawkings21122 and jimhawkings013 and I went  Well maybe genestarwind013 melfina21122 and aisha21122 will give you high scores and it will all work out......

I'll hurt your average if I believe I have to so that you'll wake up to what's wrong.

I think it's bad to just give "good scores" just because you don't want to hurt someone. Do you think teachers give bad scores because they "want to" hurt kids during tests?

As someone who's seen way too many fuckin' videos for his own good health, my scoring techniques have gotten to the REALLY picky point. 5 is my average so I don't want to hear complaints...

What scares me is that with the guides here, anything DVD ripped will VERY SOON hit my 5 point list. The assumption: noobs will start reading the guides and EVERYONE will be using hq or DVD ripped amvs and I won't see anything better. What happens? The average amv becomes DVD quality. (the chance of that perfectly happening though is low, but still possible)

Another thing, Sound? How sensitive are one's ears really? If you manage to get lucky and find a 320kbps 48khz mp3 [as in hi fuckin' quality] Then you edit it's .wav output, how can you tell if the person CD ripped it or not? :? Soon, the "average" amv will ALWAYS sound like a CD rip... :(

What I don't have to worry about is that there's around 20% or less editors out there so I don't think too many fans will score "lower".

However, I'm going to say, if I see a vid that sucks, I'll explain why it sucks with as little bias as possible. I'm not a 1s mofo who leaves empty boxes. But I will give 1s with a HUGE explanation... That's more helpful than any straight 10s score...

Omni Star if you read it clearly I said I wouldn't intentionally destroy your rating because it was number one and it deserver to be there. I would rate it for what it deserved not give it crap if it didn't deserve crap. Does that make better since.

Amen brother! A good video is a good one regardless of the 'tards. I too have received a number of bad reviews (and star-ratings...which I think is lame that it's anonymous), but...if my video truly is good...it should be able to withstand that because the majority will feel that way. It makes sense statistcally since there is always gonna be someone who hates a video and thus those immature folks who decide to "attack" a video just represent that...

Then again, I am in no way condoning this. I find it quite apalling, but something we have to live with. Not every on the .org is mature and respectful.

Also, I too noticed that when I reviewed his video and I have also seen their scores. They are QUITE high. I did warn him that he might get burned by this sooner or later...

Also, as you said...higher vids generally get TONS of people watching the video since they wanna see what the big deal is and well...honestly, if the vid ISN'T THAT good...people will tell you...for the MOST part, most are honest.

I agree. I tend to write longer reviews for videos I rate low since well...they at the very least deserve an explanation right?

Gene: I didn't give you all 1's, but at the same time not all 10's. I HOPE I have provided sufficient reasoning (in the form of a GIANT review...ow my fingers). I am guessing by the fact you specifically requested I review this (private message), I take it that you respect my opinion and are hoping to get something out of it. If that's the case, I am happy since I put a lot of work into it in hopes that it'll help you develop as an editor. I by NO means did it as an attack (and it wasn't all 1's anyway :)).

That is absolutly correct. That's why I (private messenger) you because I feel I can trust your opinion on things. You give long and detailed reviews. Longer than what I do I mean mine are about 300 to 400 words but yours when I print them out are a page long. Thanks for all your help dwchang.

No problem. I like helping out and giving advice. Given, you don't have to take it :).

Sorry about the length :-P I just like justifying what I feel since just giving numbers is..well..not helpful at all.

Feel free to ask later...BTW that is NOT an open invitation to everyone. I've done WAY too many ops recently (well not THAT many, but I write a lot) and my fingers/wrist hurt...not kidding :(.

For the love of God....
I've just read over a great deal of this, and I'm left a little bit disappointed with your attitude about opinions gene.

I believe people should voice their opinions, honestly, the way they feel it is. When somebody goes off "telling it like it is", it's obviously a great way to see things from someone else's perspective, which is the whole -point- of the opinions section.

Ratings, shmatings, a great deal of fans are bound to yield a few who have very conflicting beliefs. But you have no real right to get angry at people, just because you believe in your video skills, and you believe what you have yielded is better than what other people see it as...

OmniStrata sees it right, if you are going to "hurt" someone's average, it is better to deal them the damage now, and point them in better directions, then leading them into false beliefs, so that they are satisfied with their work, and get hurt in the long run.

I can tell you for positive, from downloading your Shrine of the Goddess 2 video, there are a great deal of aspects you could improve on, and you would probably find my opinion "contrary" to most. Diversity is what makes the opinion system good actually, I would rather see someone try and point out problems, then point out the good aspects continually, review after review. Being showered with compliments can leave me a bit unsatisfied sometimes in fact :p.

Those are my two cents on this, and always remember, it doesn't matter what other people think truly, it's how well you believe you succeeded to draw the picture in your head on the big ol' AMV eisel.

PS: If you do feel like doing an actual opinion exchange with me, I'm up for it by all means if you wanna hear what I have to say:

DBZ_Doomrider Okay If you kept on reading I said if you give a poor rating give better explantions not this video here is better and deserves it more or whatever. I mean obviously the rating system here isn't clear enough it tells you what 1 means and 10 means but I think it would be common scene what the rest is. Anyway I wasn't angry just dissapointed after thinking something was good. I've went back and reviewed the video and yes now since I have adobe I can fix the scenes and edit them the right way and make it look better. But the ratings one person gave would be something I would give to well I can't say because I don't want to offend the creator of any video. Because that's what it deserves. If you promise a far exchange not give it a poor rating because of my attitude, the music of the video, or the anime series and actually take a look at the scenes and the rhythm of the music for the scenes to match and stuff like that. It will be fine. But just not based on you hate the music or creator and all that b.s. some people do.
