It is his JOB to protect the rights of the people in our country.
Ah, so it's okay for large food companies to lie about how much rat poison they put in their food? Or for one person to take credit for another person's literary work ("Jurassic Park, by Joe Smith")? What are you, a Libertarian or something?

No, it's not okay for those people to do that, but I can't do anything about those people because they aren't in elected positions. I can do something about government officials though by not voting for them next time election time rolls around.

You are always in a position to do something. Never sell short the power of one person to change things for the better.

Ah frell, I can't resist a political fire-ant mound....::steps on it::...Ouch! Damn those little buggers!....

Anyway, I agree with Milo, Kthulhu, and Alucard. I don't consider Bush my president, either, because I actually DID vote independent. And because of the ROYAL FREAKING SCREW-UP with my state (Florida) in the mess that was 2000, I was literally just about ready to cash out all my mutual funds and book a ticket to Germany (libertarian society for the most part, and most of the population does speak English so I could take my time learning German) when Bush was sworn into office. He's not my president, and he will NEVER be my president because I never voted for the bastard and according to the recount, the majority of Americans didn't, either.

Cyanna's position is a touchy one. She has every right to be passionately against abortion, but I just don't think it's a good idea to base one's vote on a single issue. The phrase "good of the many outweigh the good of the one" comes to mind. He may be anti-abortion, but Bush's other policies are destructive. Very. After an expensive (and needless) war in Iraq, the LAST thing the government needs to do is cut its primary source of revenue by the third largest amount in U.S. history.

So far, the idiot's managed to do nothing but plunge the country further into debt and squander away the substantial budget surplus Clinton had left us with. Ok, I'm stretching the truth a bit. He also managed to get a good chunk of the world pissed off at us, including the EU and most of the Middle East, not to mention North Korea. And he'd better watch his step with the EU, because if they REALLY wanted to, they could screw our already plummetting economy up the ass and sideways (trade sanctions between the EU [including the British Commonwealth] and the U.S. could cripple our economy faster than OPEC with PMS).

So needless to say, I am NOT voting for Bush come 2004. And if he steals the office from American voters again, I really AM getting the hell out of this country. And let me just say the president who gets stuck cleaning up the mess Bush left in the White House garners my most sincere pity.

What about Switzerland? No one hates the Swiss, to my knowledge.

Thats because the swiss are so neutral, that all other countries can take them over and they would not even care. :D
