Sounds pretty unlikely to me, I was under the impression that males produced roughly equal numbers of X and Y sperm – assuming there is nothing wrong with the male in question.
I dunno about that, but I do remember reading something a while back about high G-forces (i.e., those experienced by fighter pilots, race car drivers, etc) influencing X/Y balance in favor of having female children...

VIDEO GAMES

They that play the most video games are most likely to turn into computer nerds and are therefore most likely to make AMVs.

Ever go to an arcade? What's the Male to Female ratio? It's about the same as AMV's... ever notice?

What got you into computers? I thought so...

That's a VERY good point. Video games=technical=mostly guys. I'm a girl, I'm a gamer, I ended up being an AMV creator. And yes, I got into computers purely for gaming at first, until I discovered this wonderful thing called the Internet.

And strangely enough, SQ's sweeping assumptions do make a lot of sense. I'm a senior in college, and women are definitely social creatures for the most part. It's some of what explains why women go to the freaking restroom in packs.

I'm a social outcast, a tomboy, and I guess you could call me a crossdresser because I hate wearing feminine clothes (the person who invented skirts and high heels needs to be drawn-and-quartered, hanged, whipped, and boiled until they've had enough). They may be sweeping stereotypes, but they do have a grain of truth to them and shouldn't be completely discounted.

Due to his track record with the truth, I am quite skeptical whenever I hear anything from Micheal Moore. But, it is true. As men age, the likelyhood of passing on an X chromosome rather than a Y increases. There is also a higher chance of birth defects and genetic diseases.

Same here...I think I wear a dress..maybe once a year..if I can't avoid it. Give me jeans and t shirts anyday..And while I have people I know that are female...all my close friends are guys. I remeber once for my b-day..the only thing I got were GI Joes... I wish I still had them..my son would have a field day with them now....

There was a lengthy conversation about this over at the amv mailing list at yahoo...I think in January or February's archives. It's worth reading if you really liked this thread :P Plus, I don't feel like repeating all that I said there...

oppinions are like you know what

Post by Epic_Dark_Jaeden » Wed Apr 16, 2003 8:06 pm

As a girl, I must say Its more of a guy thing because women tend to be computer illiterate.

My female friends use the comp for AIM, or email. Thats it. They see me play EQ, animate, surf the web, edit, ect They nearly crap themselves wondering how I do it. One of them tried to play one of my quest for glory games, she spent the day "touching" people in the game saying how amazeing it was that they "reacted".

My thoughts ?

"Im friends with idiots" OR "women are useless when it comes to comps"

In the long run, Guys start young, You know, the lil geeky kids that look at porn on there parents computer?, then start playing doom, duke nukem, and diablo, They become facinated with the computer, bragging to there friends about the new game they got. Games evolve into programs for mp3 editing/collecting, or warez collections, They soon evolve into usefulness by makeing AMVs :P

Thats my view on it from personal expierance. and yes once again Im a 20 year old pregnate woman. Im just a freak of nature that knows how to use a computer.

I wouldn't say the stereotypes are all wrong or that there isn't a grain of truth; I just get irritated when people start slinging stereotypes at all.

And uh... yes, I'm a huge cRPG nerd so... that one fits me too. Technically speaking, games "got me into" computers when I was a little kid, sooooo... sort of. Even though I'm on teh intarweb so much now primarily because of writing.

Even so, I was just saying that stereotyping people is generally unfair, that's all. (which is itself a generalization. arg. :P)

I have nothing else to say on the subject, really... interesting discussion. :)
