I guess Ranma could be construed as "Karate Kid" on crack.... And yeah, Venus Terzo was the voice of girltype Ranma (she was also the voice of Blackarachnia in Beast Wars....go nab an episode of that and scare yourself  )

Anyway, back on topic (I think). I've only seen Fruits Basket subbed at the local anime club. There isn't a single word to describe it. Hysterical. Tear-jerking. Amazing. And absolutely beautiful. What I love is how it can go from being painfully funny (literally so. There were moments that my sides ached) to heart-wrenchingly dramatic in the same episode.

Then I got to the last two episodes and was completely blown away. Not many animes out there actually make me cry. This one did. I still HATE Akito with a passion even though I understand him. I'd have to say my favorite character was Ayame. He was such a happy person, yet he didn't ruin the dramatic moments at all.

I highly recommend this to anyone who loves to laugh AND cry in the same moment. This series does it so well it hurts.

... whoa slow down. Fruits Basket dub?... interesting. Anyone care to share some audio shorts. I've only seen the fansubs, I had not idea it would be in english this quick. I mean you don't have to, but... meh.

I've only seen four episodes.

I'll get more soon.
When I become an Evil Overlord my Legions of Terror will be an equal-opportunity employer. Conversely, when it is prophesied that no man can defeat me, I will keep in mind the increasing number of non-traditional gender roles.

My only real complaint about the series was its lack of plot until the end. Up until episode 23 or so the storyline is as follows:

Tohru solves everbodies mental problems

Well thats the storyline, did you enjoy it? I am currently up to ep 25 which is actually quite good (considering its about my favorite character Kyou). As far as Yuki's subbed voice goes - I like it better more feminan, he looks like a girl so he should sold more like a girl, the deeper voice he has in the dub doesn't match too well compared to the sub version.

OK, I'm going to go out on a limb here...

I don't particularly like Fruits Basket. I very much disliked it early on int the series, but my feelings have now subsided to mere indifference. I am as far in as ep 20 or something. Everyone else in my anime society (100 odd peeps) disagrees with me, as far as I know. This evidence appears to show that I am wrong, but that is, of course, impossible :P
