Love Hina English Dub

Let me start by saying...*yergggh*

I bought Love Hina DVD's 1 and 2 yesterday. When I got home, i put them on (as you do...) and started watching them in english. I got maybe...mmm 5 seconds into it and thought "WTF? These sound like fucking sailor moon dubs!!" so I enabled the Japanese soundtrack. Kept watching it. Every now and then I switched over to make a comparison. This is my professional opinion.

Ahem.

None of the voices fit. They just don't sound right! Kaolla sounds too old and too...indian cliched if you get me. Kitsune sounds downright APALLING!! And whats with the accent? Motoko sounds wrong, Shinobu sounds worse, Keitaro sounds really really......just wrong!! And Mutsumi? All I could think was....WTF??

AND THEY ALL SOUND AS IF THEY ARE READING FROM A SCRIPT! A REALLY BADLY WRITTEN ONE!!

Who agrees with me?

Seriously though, if u r ever going to watch Love Hina, JAPANESE ONLY!! Boycott the english dub! DOWN WITH ENGLISH LOVE HINA DUBS!!

I'd have to say they made a pretty good cartoon dub since they decided not to opt for an animeish dub.

I have to agree with you, it is pretty horrible but perfect for people who like that style of dubbing.. just not my taste.

i saw em 2, its just like akira, i cant stand the english dub of them either and the new voices for it... extremely horrible

The dubs aren't that bad when you get used to them. At first I couldn't stand watching the dubs but I got used to them.

If you couldn't stand watching them, why would you even WANT to get used to them? I woudl have hit the "language" button on my DVD remote really fast the moment I noticed it was horrible

PS I watched some of the Love Hina dub... I am scarred for life...

And you can get used to anything by exposing yourself to it for long enough, that's not really a good arguement :p

As bad as it might have been I cant really imagine who they could have done better with. What do you guys what Keitaro to be played by the guy who does Shinji? I agree that the japanese version is better, most of the time I dont want to waste my time reading stupid subtitles as I watch the anime. Its fine with fansubs but when something is actually dubbed I watch it dubbed.
