Final Fantasy XI

My roommate went all crazy and imported the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XI. I've managed to distract him a few times with candy so that I might get a chance to fiddle with it a bit. So far I am pretty impressed with the way the game is contructed. On the surface it still seems to have the trappings to become just one more MMORPG, but Square seems to have done their homework in order to make the game entertaining. Character creation is rather entertaining, though the models could be a little more diverse in terms of allowing more hair and skin color options. And the Taru Taru are SOOOOO CUTE!!!! Still pics just don't do them justice.

Hrm, I do sincerely hope they do a US release after all. But then of course I'd need to get broadband.

It won't come out over here until we get the f00king hard drive for the PS2 (which there's still no date on). It just makes me wonder how much longer we'll have to wait, especially since the HDD has been out for a while in Japan.

They won't release the hard drive until there is a need for it. If FF XI comes here, then there will be a need for it and they will release it as well.

The HDD'll come first, trust me. Square won't push Sony like that, if only because there'll be a lot of pissed off people when they discover that after they get the game that they need the Hard drive to go with it. They'll be screaming bloody murder all the way to the ATM and swear that they're being robbed

If anything the HDD'll be like the Network Adapter, with Sony underproducing it in the states and everyone wanting one but can't find it.

We shall see, we shall see. But all the same, there's no set timetable for either the game or the HDD's arrival.

I know it'll be coming here. I was just sent an application for the closed beta to test the servers. If they're running a beta, even closed, it will definitely be coming here. And they said that they plan on releasing it fairly soon. Which leads me to believe almost everything else is nearly finished.
