Should start production once I get my new laptop (soon, I hope). VHD Bloodlust to Savatage's "Not What You see". It'll basically be showcasing the D's attitude toward the world in general, but more specifically Leila. Here are the lyrics, and here's an mp3 of it.
Lyrics:
No life's so short it can't turn around
You can't spend your life living underground
For from above you don't hear a sound
And I'm out here
Waiting
I don't understand what you want me to be
It's the dark you're hating
It's not who I am
But I know that it's all that you see
No life's so short that it never learns
No flame so small that it never burns
No page so sure that it never turns
And I'm out here
Waiting
I don't understand what you want me to be
It's the dark you're hating
It's not who I am
But I know that it's all that you see
Can you live your life in a day
Putting every moment in play
Never hear a word that they say
As you watch the wheels go around
Tell me if you win would it show
In a thousand years who would know
As a million lives come and go
On this same piece of ground
I've been waiting
I don't understand what you want me to be
It's the dark you're hating
It's not who I am
But I know that it's all that you see
Tell me would you really want to
See me leave this night wihtout you
Would you ever look about you
Wondering where we might be
New York is so far away now
Tokyo, Berlin and Moscow
Only dreams from here but somehow
One day that world we will see
I don't understand
I don't understand
I swear on tomorrow
If you take this chance
Our lives are this moment
The music, the dance
And here in this labyrinth
Of lost mysteries
I close my eyes on this night
And you're all that I see
You're all that I see...

I'm always up for more Savatage videos, but this is a hella rough combo you've set yourself up here. I haven't seen all of Bloodlust, but I'm worried that the overall color match is too dark to bring out the subtext of desperate hope in the song. Also, the posted lyrics don't bring out the Broadway-esque round that turns the end of the song into vocal line soup. You could probably cover this with layering, but there's always the risk of just inadvertently layering on too much visual information to make sense of.
If you're intent on a Bloodlust video with Savatage, you might take a listen through _Poets & Madmen_ while you're waiting for your equipment to fall into place. Jon's voice gives some nice dark, gritty, shadings that Zak's doesn't quite.
Best of luck, whichever path you end up taking.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

There are some very well it sequences near the middle and toward the end, and some sequences that I personally think just fit so perfectly. (I would say what they are, but I don't want to spoil it for you) ::just rewatched it today when she should have been paying attention in class

I'm thinking of altering the idea slightly, though. Make it a stark contrast between D's fate and Meier's (you'd have to see the end to really get that). As for the transparency problem, I was thinking of using a dominance effect: as each verse in the song is layered, so is the footage to go with it, but in varying degrees of dominance. The first verse gets gradually more transparent as each verse is layered onto it, so that it's barely visible by the end. The second one also drop in visibility as the third is layered onto it, and the third fades as the fourth one is layered on. It'll probably drive me crazy, but I think it would keep with the music without being too "muddied", due to the varying degrees of transparency.
