Yeah thanks for spoiling the entire fucking series, IN THE FIRST SENTENCE, for me you cocksucker.the Black Monarch wrote:First, the best
1) Linkin Park, "In the End," made by Abaddon.
This is truly the video that defines what Eva is all about. These kids fight so hard and suffer so much, but after all is said and done, everyone dies. Their frustrations and sadness (except Rei's, for some unknown reason...)are captured more perfectly by this video than by any other that I've seen so far. Anyone who trashes this video *cough*Tommyrude*cough* is an idiot of the highest caliber.
2) Madonna, "Frozen"
Whenever I watch this video, I feel like crying. A tribute to Rei Ayanami with a perfect selection of video and a perfect song for the character, matched together almost perfectly, with impressive video editing effects. It captures the essence of Rei in all her blue-haired glory.
3) Tori Amos, "Crucify"
This video would have made it to the #2 spot, but poor video quality and terrible editing make this look like the work of some random schmuck with a VCR. Still, it is a very good video, and it matches the themes of the song and the series as well as it matches specific scenes to specific lyrics. Someone should remake this video with fresher footage and better timing.
4) Crazy Town, "Butterfly"
I made this myself, so it's natural that I should put it on my list. I do like to preserve my integrity, though; this has a lot of the most emotional and dramatic scenes in Eva, put to a music track with perfect lyric matches and battle scenes that seem to pulse with the music.
5) "This Isn't What We Meant", I'm not sure who does it.
Dealing with Eva's large-scale themes more than its personal ones, this video seems to capture the emotions of the whole human race rather than any individual people. It still gets up close and personal at times, though, and has a pretty nifty rock track.
Honorable mentions: Backstreet Boys, "Larger than Life;" Cold, "End of the World;" Linkin Park, "Runaway;" Nickelback, "How You Remind Me;" Offspring, "Dammit I Changed Again;" Pet Shop Boys, "It's a Sin;" Vertical Horizon, "Everything You Want"
And now, for the bad...
5) Any of RuhDog's nameless abominations
I must say, I really hate RuhDog. The ideas behind his videos are great - a Rei tribute with a song titled "How do you talk to an angel" sounds infallible. Unfortunately, what this idiot did for ALL of his videos was cut up the Weird Al "I Think I'm a Clone Now" video into a couple of huge chunks, rearrange those chunks, and play the resulting footage two or three times until the song ends. It's the most blatant and inexcusable lack of creativity I've ever seen on behalf of any AMV creator out there!
4) Any video featuring Asuka's Last Stand set to really bad heavy metal, especially Metallica
This is just plain ridiculous. Random idiots just pop out of nowhere, get Eva's final battle scene with little or no editing, slap some random heavy metal song on it and call it a music video. There are so many of these, it stupefies the imagination. "Sleep Now in the Fire" by Rage Against the Machine, "Panic" by the Beatsteaks, "Waste my Hate" and "King Nothing" by Metallica, etc. only scratch the surface. They're all the same, and they're all horrible. Besides, Eva isn't about giant robots, it's about the people inside them.
3) Wierd Al, "Gump"
The sheer pointlessness of this video amazed me. Shinji may be a little slow at times, but using Wierd Al's least funny song ever to compare Shinji to Forrest Gump is even LESS funny. It has nothing to do with Eva, it's not funny, and it doesn't make sense.
2) Offspring, "Get a Job"
Whoever made this video deserves to die the most horrible and painful death imaginable, a hundred times a day for all of eternity. He will become Satan's #1 bitch in the afterlife, and learn the true meaning of being ass-raped. The very content of this video is too horrible for me to even begin to describe. It tries to be funny but fails miserably, and has nothing to do with Eva.
And the #1 worst Eva music video ever made is...
1) Nine Inch Nails, "Closer," any version.
Not only does this song absolutely and thoroughly suck from both musical and lyrical perspectives, but it's also completely lacking any real emotion, is generally sick and has nothing to do with Eva. So, naturally, no less than 3 different people (maybe more) decided that it would be good for an Eva video. Two of them are ErMaC and Some Stupid Guy With Nothing Better to Do, while the other(s) were/was some pervert(s) with a computer and too much free time. I don't care what anyone else says, Eva is NOT about "wanting to f*ck someone like an animal". At least Some Stupid Guy had the common sense to use footage from the Hentai movie to prove how stupid the idea was.
Get some fucking consideration.
