Is Anneke a common name?

I think I was sitting next to her today in a class about Current Trends in Film and Video at DeAnza, but at the break she split and dropped the class I guess... not sure if it was the same Anneke, just a bit curious.

There are tons of Anneke's in the Netherlands and Belgium, quite common over here...

I always wondered just how that name would be pronounced. I considered the japanese syllabic way but if it's belgian, then I just don't know.

If you mean the "Anneke" who posts here, that's not her real name.

I used to work with a Swedish woman by that name. We always pronounced it like "an-eh-kee". Slight emphasis on the first syllable.

In dutch we pronounce it as an-nuh-kuh but different countries mean different pronounciations though, right...

Anneke is not my real name, I just happen to like it better then my real name. It's the name I have choosen for myself. I pronounce it:
Ann E key. (Sort of like Any Key).

The other thing is I've graduated colllege, and so wouldn't have been there. And I live in Southern California. <grin>
