Hey everyone, just a final update to not leave everyone hanging.
Unfortunately I will no longer be able to assist and answer any questions regarding AX AMV's. Any inquiries should be directly emailed to spja.
As of this year, my team and I are no longer involved with Anime Expo AMV's as they've cut the whole department. AMV's is still there but will no longer be volunteer run.
It was a pleasure to work with you all and believe it or not, I had a lot of fun! I hope my efforts in streamlining things and making things more transparent for contestants and attendees helped. Unfortunately, my plans to expand AMVs at AX are now dead like the dept.
A BIG Thank you to the old AX crew and all the coordinators for all the advice and help. It's really been a crazy ride.
I'll try to visit ALA and SakuraCon as my schedule allows.
Good luck everyone! It's been fun.
Cheers!

Re: Anime Expo AMV's final update
Sorry to hear, that's such a bummer.
Thank you for all the work you put in the last few years! It's clear that you were working against a tide of BS to try to put on a good show for attendees and IMO you did a great job raising the standards back up given how much AX seemed to be actively trying to keep them low.
I genuinely only started entering the contest again because I saw you fighting the good fight and I wanted to support you. The con might not give you any credit, but a lot of us editors saw you and appreciated you!
Definitely check out ALA and Sakura if you can, both are awesome and I'm sure you'd have a great time!

Ugh that sucks! I just will never understand this kind of decision. Thank you for all your efforts! They have been seen.

That is such a shame. You and your team were really fighting the good fight and it showed. If you and your crew ever want to get back into contest judging then there will always be a place for you in VAT.

A few of us AX alumni kinda cynically anticipated this would be the eventual outcome, but there's a lot to be said for at least trying and hoping the powers-that-be would see the value of your efforts. My own salty feelings of AX aside, I wanted to see you succeed. For an event as large as AX, the AMV community deserved to be represented proper, and you did your level best to do so. I'm glad some of veteran editors recognized your efforts.
Editors don't send their work to conventions per se, they send their work to coordinators who care, and they're rightfully picky. The editors that submitted their work to AX during your tenure weren't supporting AX, they were supporting you. That's a vote of trust I never once took lightly, and I know you didn't either. I'm sorry things ended how they did, but know other events would be glad to work with you (I'm sure you've been talking with Stryyder and Yuu), and I'm sure those editors will follow.
Best wishes to you going forward. Beer's on me if I see you at Sak or ALA in the near future.
