your lost little girl [Thief of Fire AMV Re-Release]

Post by AbrogateNeed » Thu Oct 28, 2021 4:17 pm

This is one of my older videos which I remember fondly, and since it doesn't have a proper wide release I thought this would be a good chance to try and spice it up a bit. I've been experimenting with this harsh gradient-mapped black and white style for a while since I feel like it lends an enticing pulp texture to older material, and I feel like it does wonder with Midori, so I threw together this new version with each shot newly gradient mapped. Seems fitting for the Halloween vibes, and I hope you can find something to dig outta it.

WARNING: With Midori being the video source here, there is some disturbing and gory imagery

This is a completely wild experience to watch. Gruesome and horrific, absolutely. There's more than enough parts that resonate with me as goofy or fun to balance that out... a sentence I would probably NOT be typing if I'd ever seen this anime before, I'm sure.

I guess this isn't literally the same thing that you were doing with Lightworks or Lovefingers but it feels like what those videos were kinda sorta leading toward... or maybe I have that backwards, if indeed you actually made this quite a long time ago as you're saying you did. Either way, I really loved this, one of the most creative things I've seen in a while. The effects here took me places I'd never been and transforms the source material in really unique ways that resonate with the music really strongly. Even when there's no motion on screen, the visuals are still compelling enough to keep me super engaged.

For any potential viewers reading this, I cannot overemphasize how utterly debased and disgusting this is, BUT the editor does not exploit this material in any way you're expecting. Definitely artsy but never fartsy. Come 'n get it! *rings dinner bell*
