Alright I hope everyone put on their big-boy pants and ate their Wheaties this morning because I'm not pulling any punches!

So far I've noticed alot of light-hearted jovial reviews and while thats fine I know alot of editors (myself included) who were really hoping for some solid feedback. So not knowing whose video is whose, i tried to give every video some sort of criticism or critique if i could, and come up with something that would make each video better, regardless of how much i liked the video or not.

So if you made a troll video and i accidentally took it seriously i apologize. If you're not interested in improving no worries you dont need to take this seriously. Bear in mind im a newer editor still and my opinions are subject to change.

Ok, finally done with my reviews. Super salty about a lot of these videos, I know I take this probably more seriously than I should, but I had strong reactions to a lot of these videos, so I'm sorry in advance. Kind of.

All in all, less than thrilled with the contest this year, the videos just felt a bit lower-effort than previous years. There has always been a high ratio of videos I don't like vs. videos I do, but this year it felt like there were more videos that were just...not good, from any angle. I dunno. It was definitely one of the worst Pro contests I've entered from a quality standpoint.

This was so cute, thought rise of guardians was a bit too detailed and dark compared to the rest of the sources used. a few of the toy story scenes were too static and ruined flow, and a few scenes couldve benefited from ken burns but i really thought this was cute overall +A+ nice job

Cute, unique pairing but i thought the scenes did not match the pace of the song (too slow) and there was not enough diversity of the types of clips used. loved that you used patema though

I'm sending you my dentist bill for all these cavities you matched the pace of the song perfectly, some of the flash transitions were a bit too bright and there was a bit of lipflap but really this is just a treat and agh the climax is just spellbinding yo +AAA+

I love you approach to the source and the care you put into the story. Source quality and general technicals can be cleaned up a lot (first half is weak in this respect) but really, the thought put into this video shows me that once you get a handle on these things you will make amazing vids keep it up! (also pls release i wanna sub u)

ohhhhh cool +A+ at the beginning there's some like amv-like push transitions which don't really work with live action footage but this makes me excited. cool mood after first chorus, but the choruses were weirdly the slowest parts of the video despite the pounding drums and i was missing some lyric sync but this was neat and i appreciate the source selection.

this video is who i am on the inside. it got stronger as it went on, the lipsync and a few cuts could've been tightened up a ton but really this is a masterpiece.

really nice flow and cool effects, the 3D was distracting/not really needed imo. i felt it stood out from other fate vids just in the way you handled the scenes but the effects/story never really came together and it felt like an experiment than a complete video. that being said, the slower sections were super great and allowed the viewer to appreciate the choruses. i felt there could've been a song cut to prevent 3 separate sections of random action flow, but it was nice overall U8 u got skills yo

YES THIS SONG let me be your friend let me discuss music with you. i thought there was too much focus on madoka and homura (like ever scene had them past the intro) where i think the song really called for more atmospheric general shots to match the sounds and diversify the visuals. i liked how you went for lyric sync. you had some source quality issues and i think some slight pans/zooms couldve livened up the footage a great deal. this was super pretty though and i think if you clean up the technicals you can make some awesome, unique vids

the audio quality hurts ;-; great pairing, the lyric sync was a bit too on the nose in the beginning but i like how you connected the song to diff parts of the girls stories. some slight pans/zooms couldve strengthened the slower sections, some parts were noticeably slowed down, and the sync couldve been cleaned up a bit but this was a neat take on madoka and the ending really sold it U8 nice job

I JUST WANNA APPLY THIS VIDEO TO MY BODY +AAA+ SYYYYYYNC the dramatic lip sync in the middle was unneeded/ruined flow but i absolutely adored this. so many vids with this source i feel try to make the sport feel like olympics level drama but this really kept this light feeling that matched the series art style. 2:13 sync was amazing and i just wanna marry this video ok

cool retro feeling and there was a lot of cute sync, i just felt the song was too repetitive/long and the editing just followed the movie along for a lot of the battles. that being said, the nono sync in that vocal part was cute af and i really really like the atmosphere, it just could have been much shorter and accomplished the same thing. i look forward to see more stuff from you though!

i think the sync was cool and the colors were pretty nice given how different the series you used were, maybe a bit too dark. i think you were trying to tell a story, but given the shortness of the vid and the amount of action, it was hard to understand. it really just felt like explosions and upset people half the time. thought the editing was pretty solid though, few clips in the intro looked slowed down too much though.

I cannot praise this video enough. it is a work of art. amazing atmosphere, amazing drama, and it shows a deep respect for the source. gave me chills. nice flow. the jump cut at 1:49, 1:58, and 2:59 were distracting, and the joker with the wider face at 1:53 really brought attention to the different sources being used. but really this is just amazing +AA+ great great job

really cool use of the source, separates it from other vids with it. great flow, transitions, imagery, etc. i wish i liked the dudes voice more haha but i really enjoy the video as a whole it's a visual treat

a true american love story. the dangos were oddly colored (too dark!) and i do not think they were needed at all. some of the motion felt a bit too much/constant. i really liked how the effects were like pasted on/not perfect a weird way though, made the video charming.

this is a sin. nice editing, nice snake boobs. probs the best i've seen with the source. can't really complain about anything other than the mouth mask at 1:25. solid work!

super pretty, solid editing. i appreciate the storytelling instead of having the series pretty animation take over the vid for you. the pretty bell sounds with the dark imagery was a really cool contrast. that firework sync was great. who was singing at times in the beginning was a bit hard to determine, and the ending was a bit abrupt to really allow for the emotions to hit but it was a solid vid overall.

NOSTALGIA ;AAAAAA; the color overlay was a bit strong but the sync and flow were nice. some of the zooms were a bit repetitive but this video was super sweet, had great scene selection and was an overall great vid that really shows an appreciation for the source A+ in my book

Truly truly great editing, great concept, high marks all around. wish the parts with the lady in glasses speaking were in the same lighting as the character she was talking to but ahh this makes me wanna maybe finish a tv show for once

the transition between clips really bothered me, like it was too similar in coloring to the things around it so it was hard to differentiate clips. i'm not really into this style of comedy so i really can't properly comment on it, but i appreciate the yaoi id say it is def more geared towards a youtube audience than this contest

loved this you kept focus on the girls and had great sync and overall great editing. the guitar solo part was a bit too on the nose/forced but otherwise this really captured the movie and made great use of the overblown colors in it for the mood.

LET ME TALK TO YOU ABOUT MAGI great flow, great sync, great appreciation to the source i just felt the choruses were dying for more dramatic scenes and you went the random action route in them. the song lyrics def matched the source, i just felt the general sound of the song was a bit too harsh/shouneny for Magi's bright colors and cute animation. overall this was crazy strong though and i appreciate all the titus and sphintus best characters and the ending with kassim was A+ U8 great job!

cool mood, cool lyric sync.i feel like a little of this video was lost to just showing pretty atmospheric scenes. transition at 3:24 was super awkward too but overal pretty strong vid, just didn't differentiate itself too much from other with the same source.

great sync, lip sync can be cleaned up. loved all the things you added, especially the kangaskhan and the progression of pokemon games. well thought out and executed. i wished i liked the song a bit more but overall this was super strong and enjoyable.

it took me a few watches to understand what was happening. it seemed a bit divided between the drama/sentimental and the relationship, with just baaarely enough focus on either of them to really hit me but the editing is super nice and the montage at the end was cute af. nice job!

having not seen the source, the song seems way too upbeat for the dark footage being shown. theres a lot of close ups on faces staring at each other and tons of characters in the vid only briefly. not knowing the plot it was just confusing. the editing is super nice though and i can tell its one of those vids that is great for the fans i just needed like a cliff notes of the show as preparation.

again, great concept, the editing was sorta inconsistent. the jump cuts for sync were a bit jarring and and some scenes went on for too long. i wanted a bit more lyric sync as towards the middle it just felt like random funny scenes from the series. it was cute though!

this took me a few watches to realize how much i love it. i initally was really put off by the commercialy-ness of the live action sections but like, viewing it more like a commercial instead of like a normal amv it really gave me feelings. like it feels like it belongs on toonami +_+ and the ghibli section made me tear up. amazing technicals etc etc A+

i think before you try to do all those fancy effects and transitions, you need to remove lip flap as its super distracting. loved the gun shot sync. i liked the sound effects, but just a tad less would probably make it more dramatic instead of every other beat (waaaay too much in the end, couldn't hear the song). loved the ambition though v:

this is one of those concepts that fit so perfectly that it kinda feels lazy. nice editing. the scenes over the motorcycle sounding section didn't really seem like they fit and the ending was abrupt but it was a nice and entertaining overall.

editing was super solid, alucards character assignment was pretty weird but this was incredibly enjoyable and everything flowed together super well. felt like it stands on its own and doesn't just replicate the original trailer.
