Fun stuff. As Bubbles said, your technical work is improving with every vid. This one had a good amount of custom jokes which I appreciate and the crossover sections were more often better visually than in Anime 101. As I have said in the past, you are an editor whose videos are consistently enjoyable and this is no exception. Keep it up!

Thank you so much! Yours was one of the comments I remember from Anime 101 and I really tried to improve on most of the stuff you mentioned. I'm glad you liked it!Kisanzi wrote:Fun stuff. Yay! Another fun video, especially for the pause-and-catch-the-in-jokes moments!
As a dirty old fudanshi myself, I found this extremely hilarious.

BTW: Vivifx, I do want to just comment on this video one more time with a bit more detail.
Each year, I feel like you create AMVs that unites the crowd together. Its true for your last several Otakon submissions: An AMV about TV, PonyNote, Anime 101, and finally this one with "Ship Happens". Each time I feel like you've got an uncanny ability to highlight, embrace, and elevate a subculture hiding in the crowd. A lot of people try to do this but IMO end up falling flat. (Either they insult the subculture, or they go too deep and confuse and/or alienate the mainstream crowd). But I honestly think your videos strike a good balance.
For example, you have a bunch of "obvious pairings" through this video, but its honestly the not-so-obvious ones that make the video great. Sure, we've all seen Spike x Vash and Shinji x Kaworu. But when Okabe x Asahina (~1:17) pops up its like "Oh damn, that'd actually make a good ship" (Subtitle: Its Time, nice). And even when an obvious ship is coming up, its handled very well. IE: At 1:28 the lyrics "The subtext in the 2nd season is pretty clear" match up with Kyon very well.
Its really the details of this AMV that bring it out. There's only a couple of seconds to catch them, but its when you look back upon it that you realize the AMV has a deeper amount of thought to it. Great video overall, I can't imagine the amount of work you put into this.

I want to take the time to reply to this cause this really made my evening. What you are describing is what I try to do with each of my videos, but It's really nice to know that I am succeeding. Originally that wasn't my goal, and tbh it really continues to be a secondary goal. Usually I just go with something I think is funny and I hope others will find it amusing.dragontamer5788 wrote:BTW: Vivifx, I do want to just comment on this video one more time with a bit more detail.

As to the pairings I wanted a good balance of wacky, expected and then new and unexpected (but still workable) pairings. If asked I can give a reason for each of my choices other than the footage just worked together. EdxEren both lost their moms and limbs and also tend to have a temper for someone so young. I am glad you liked MikuruxOkabe - I was a fan of that. Thank you so much for your comment - It means a lot to me!
