I guess I'll throw ya'll a bone...
HEAR YE, HEAR YE!
(No, this isn't the finalist list yet. Syke!)
I will be posting the finalist list this weekend. Before then, let me give a bit of a preamble regarding how this year came out.
There are 34 AMV entries (divided between six categories), plus 13 Bonus entries in the finals this year.
The category mix for this year shall be thus:
Action/Adventure
Comedy/Humor
Romance/Sentimental
Fun
Drama/Theatric
Upbeat/Dance
In regards to submission quantity, after evaluating what genres to mix with what, we think this year came out very well balanced. Yes, we've received a few vids that have been shopped around to various cons, and those vids have new worthy challengers so it's still anybody's game.
With regards to the bonus category, we received LOTS of trailer entries, and a decent amount of commercial entries from a small handful of editors (which we somewhat anticipated since it's a new thing). Audience response will determine whether we continue this bonus category concept, but based on the quality of what we got I think it'll be well received.
In between each category, we will play one trailer, one or two commercials, and then the next category's intro. We won't be using traditional intro or credit slates for bonus category entries, but we'll be integrating them into the category intro. (The long tradition of the MC coming up on stage and introducing each category is now being put to rest).
I will also be sending individualized emails to each finalist informing them of which entries got in, along with a screenshot of the credits slate we will be using. We ask that they confirm the accuracy of those credits. It is strongly requested that the finalists NOT disclose which of their entries got in. Obviously we can't stop you, but we'll frown at you very sternly and futily if you do.
The public roster will contain a list of entrant names. We won't be posting the name of each entry until after con. Again, we'll be posting it this Saturday (give or take a week or two... j/k).
Good luck, and thanks to all who participated!
