  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Sometimes when I watch an AMV devoted to a single series and I'm not sure whether it's really good or not, I ask myself "would fans of the series enjoy this?" I'm not sure whether or not that's really the best metric to judge a video by, but it's an interesting question nonetheless. When I'd watch a video like this, I'd probably say "well, yeah, this includes lots of clips of memorable moments, it's edited fairly well, boils down the essence of the series into a few minutes' time," etc. Now I'm starting to think that I was all wrong about that kind of thing. Because...

Well, watching this AMV, as a viewer who's seen and enjoyed the series a lot, I didn't really get a lot out of this video. Everything I said above still applies. It's well made and in watching it, the fact that you're a fan of Gurren Lagann is pretty obvious, too. But it doesn't bring a lot to the table that we haven't seen before. It's a well-edited, standard action AMV that doesn't really shine in the originality department, but may actually be more appreciated by GL virgins than longtime fans of the series. I don't know. You know what it's like when you watch an AMV for a series that you haven't seen, one that arouses your curiosity about the series and makes you really want to watch it? I think that this AMV could do that. Hopefully more people watch it and prove me right!

Overall, good flow, I like the pace of this video, it matched the music well and never bored me. Ever think about uploading this to the site here? Video quality was pretty good but I wonder if it would look even better if it was playing on my computer instead of streaming from Youtube.

Sorry if these comments are unhelpful or if I'm sending you mixed messages, I just wanted to post something because I can tell that you put some good time into this and it deserves some actual feedback from viewers, and nothing sucks more than watching your announcement thread fall off the first page with zero replies. This is a solid and entertaining AMV that's worth watching, imo.
