AD: The circle of DDR2 creators was based on closeness to the guys running it, not skill. THAT pissed me off. Rather than pick the bes' people for the job, they simply chose creators from the little club to do it an' I think the project suffered because of it.
Now, am I sick of not getting any recognition? Mos' likely, but as you pointed out, this has nuthin to do wit that. For the mos' part, I'm jus sick of paying cash outta pocket for a website when no one even bothers to download the shit on it. I'm only keeping ARP.com open until next year because I promised the winner of the 80's Contest would be hosted on the site.
I'm not tryin' to impress anyone. I will admit to tryin to shake stuff up though. Why? Because I don' like the way things are goin, plain an' simple. The ONLY thing I do for my own gain is make videos. When I put out a new vid, you can rest assured I did it for my own reasons an' agenda. But, whether you like it or not, everythign else is for the long term good of the comunity. (An' yes, I know sayin that is gonna annoy a lotta people, but is' true.)
Zero: Hoo-boy, another shrimp on the barbee.
Dig it, you called me ignorant, but said NOTHING of what led you to that definition. Ignorant means to be lacking information or knowledge in a field of study. Now, point out where I expressed ignorance in any of this. See, nuthin I said was even slightly uneducated, you jus seem to think everyone wit a brain acts nice an' proper all the time. Face it kid, some of us assholes know our shit too. So would you please explain HOW an' WHEN I demonstraighted ignorance, so I might get a clue as to what the fuck you're basing this assumption on?
Anyway, why should I be nice to the DDR2 crew? I was nice to the peopel who's vids didn' suck, an there's no point in trying to help them cuz they sure as hewll not gonna try to improve it at all, an' mos importantly, I'M NOT NICE TO PEOPLE WHO ACT LIKE SHITHEADS. Sheesh.
As f'the 5th mix, I'm only gonna say this ONE MORE TIME: ERA is NOT on the 5th megamix CD. Look at it for once you stupid shit. Now, Matsuri Japan IS, thass my bad because my copy lists it as '2 1/2
Japan', an' having neva' played 5th Mix in the arcade I wasn' able to spot it.
Now listen to me you little troll, if y'gonna try an catch an asshole, you can't act like a BIGGER asshole. I don' bullshit, an as long as you continue to, y'not gonna get anywhere.

Mike and Meri were picked on skill - they had a good track record for making videos and could be relied upon (as proven by their assistance with This is Otakudom etc). The turboneko guys were also picked because of talent. I already told you that you were also on that shortlist of good creators, but you never got the chance for one reason or another.TommyRude wrote:AD: The circle of DDR2 creators was based on closeness to the guys running it, not skill. So where does that leave your little theory?
Well, I'm sorry that you get so upset over the fact that people don't think you're the mutt's nuts. Try to chill and quit let people get to you, nobody likes a meanie.
Go and drink some mulled wine and sing christmas carols and maybe if you start respecting other people for a while then others may actually begin to care. Respect is a two way street, and I think you turned onto a dead end way back. Right about now you're running into the wall hoping you can break through it with your head. Just don't expect anyone to pick you up after you're done hurting yourself.

*Constructive* DDR2 criticism
Since Tommy doesn't seem to want to over any criticism of value, I spent most of last night reviewing the DDR2 AMV and I have my opinions on them. On the whole, this was slightly improved over the first DDR, and a good effort was put in by all.
Anyways...:
I just got my DDR2 DVD in the mail today. I'm just now sitting down to see it. The first thing I watched was the Iron Chef editing competition, and OH MY GOD that was so cool. No wonder AWA is the AMV capital. Both videos were great... but the disc didn't say who won though.
As for the DDR project...: When evaluating this, it's important to keep in mind that these aren't meant to be a non-stop compilation of super-awesomely entertaining AMVs. It's meant to be AMVs which put you in the mood to get up on the floor and dance.
Track 1: Hmm. Multiple scenes flashing by very, very, very, very, VERY quickly. Oooooookay. I'll need a second to wake up from my epileptic seisure. Not a great way to start off. Wonder who made this... [Looking at credits] Oh. Hmm... uh, no comment. I'll be nice.
Track 2: Touching yet funny at the same time. I can't BELIEVE you put Snoopy in there. Nice touch.
Track 3: Good editing, fits well with the project. I don't think the editor intended to do any (or much) lip synching in this video, contrary to Tommy's assumption.
Track 4: Interesting video. Yeah, it definitely screams Yaoi, something which ain't quite my speed, but I did find it quite interesting and would make a good stand-alone video. Wouldn't want to dance to it though.
Track 5: Great moment where Tylor synchs with the announcer "This is a great song!!!" That was the high point of the track though in my opinion. Relied far too heavily on the eye-candy during the "You are my hero" chorus, and I feel more could have been done there. I feel that the "Hero" text was rather tacky as well... but at least it was something happening during the chorus aside from eye-candy. I know this isn't how you envisioned it Ermac, but I can't help but be a tad disappointed.
Track 6: Impressive video, edited well and would go decently as a stand alone as well. I haven't seen past the first 5 discs of Kenshin so I hope it hasn't spoiled anything... ^^;;;
Track 7: A CGI of Haruko from FLCL dancing to some background frames from same said show. Not much else to see, but for a dance vid it works.
Track 8: Great action incorporated into this while still being very danceable. Very nice touches, such as superimposeing the DDR logo behind Quatre as he played violin, and having a Gundam stomping on a DDR pad. Great work here.
Track 9: Funny video, would do fairly as a standalone, yet I admire that you used white flashes with percussion beats, a trick which a couple other editors should take note of. That simple addition helps turn good stand-alones yet bad dance vids into good stand-alones AND good dance vids.
Track 10: Great choice of St. Tail for this song. Works very well, and the editing is perfect for this track. Beautiful job, and a clever finish.
Track 11: This is a track where you sit down and rest while you watch the fanservice. "Now with more boobies!" LOL!
Track 12: A little fanservice action here and there too... nothing wrong with that, mind you ^_^ Could make for some good fun between you and your female dance partner if you're feisty enough.
Track 13: Transformers? Zat eez old zkool, yah? ^_^ Can't say much for danceability, might make an interesting stand alone, but it brought back some good memories at least. ^_^
Track 14: I love Puni-Puni Poemi, but the best part of this was showing the actual editing, and the BSOD was just SOOOOO right. Good sense of humor you have.
Track 15: After seeing a rendition of this done at AX, I'll have to admit I'm a bit skewed in opinion as I think that would have worked oh-so-much better than what was done here, regretfully. In this one I simply saw a bunch of people leaping around and fighting with little attention paid to the beats. Some improvement near the end, but I can't say this'd even make a good stand-alone.
Track 16: I'll probably be crucified for saying this, but I'm not an Urusei Yatsura TV fan (the story is good, but the TV art style hurts to watch). There were several parts here where this worked well, but otherwise I won't comment.
Track 17: I'm a fan of this show (wish they'd bring it to the US) but unfortunately I didn't see it really mesh well with the song. It was okay...
Track 18: It helps that I saw a MIB/Big-O parody, because seeing it made this video all the better. The person singing the lyrics sounds somewhat like Will Smith even. Would make a great standalone.
(At this point, it's getting late in the night so my reviews aren't going to be all too coherent, but I'm determined to finish so I'll be brief.)
Track 19: This show worked quite well with the song. Fun, and while nothing too flashy it's quite danceable.
Track 20: Same applies; nothing flashy, but song and video choice worked well together.
Track 21: Another show I haven't seen yet, but desparately want to see. lenty of flashiness in this, and you were doing quite well until you showed the blue character and red character spinning together for like the 3rd or 4th time consecutively.
Track 22: Another person who learned the value a simple white flash can add to a dance video. Can't say I'd want to dance to Jim-Roh though. Good editing in this.
Track 23: Good ol' Boom-Boom Dollar. I would have picked something other than Outlaw Star though. It works passably well, and there was some respectable editing in here.
Track 24: Jubei-chan is a fun show, and the song went well with it. Can't find too much to complain about on this one.
Track 25: Very interesting Ode' to Gainax here. Very nice job on this one, editing is excellent.
Track 26: FUNNY AS HELL! I'm scared to picture how the hell people are supposed to dance to that song though...
Track 27: Very interesting touch with the freeze-frames of the video footage with a shadowy Live-Action person dancing. Very nice, uh... ahem. Yeah, I think I'll have to check out this series.
Track 28: The BEST video I have EVER seen! This is a work of sheer genius! I didn't think it was possible to create a video of such magnificence! (Brad plushie: "It's the fuckin' credits, dope.") (XStylus plushie: "Eh? Oh. Er... uh, yeah. Me go to bed now. I've been up waaaaaay too late...)
Good work to all, and congrats on the completion of another successful project. Looking forward to seeing DDR3. As for Tommy, you really need to pull that dick out of your ass so you can stick it in your ear.

Demonstration #1 of Tommy's Ignorance:
I really love how you judge people on whether their videos suck or not. How about this: "Yeah, I'd be nice to him, if his car didn't suck as much." "Sure, I'd be nice to him if his hair, or his clothing, wasn't as batted as they were." Illinformed? uneducated? unaware? ignorant? yes.

Obviously you don't know Nicole. This demo is only held as an example, so I won't go into how wrong you are, you'll just have to take in the fact that you are. Ask around. She's probably the least egotistical person I know. So fuck off.
I could go on if you want.
Have you ever came to the conclusion that because you act like a shithead, they do too? huh. weird concept isn't it? Which is strange, because everone I've ever talked to invovled with the DDR project has been nothing but nice to me. Is it because I'm civil? welcoming? not insulting? calm? I don't type in a boston accent?
Sorry to tell you this, but everything you said really, about the people who are involved with the DDR Project shows your ignorance, because from WHAT I READ, you know absolutely nothing about them, yet you seem to pose as the most knowledgable person alive. You say they're shitheads, which is a great, ignorant statement.

Why do you act like an asshole? I mean really, where does it get you? It obviously gets you hated and nowhere and enemies with some of the nicest people in the community. Good job, you deserve a medal. (not really, but it makes me laugh saying that

Re: DDR2 DVD
Heh, you should check out my Dam Dariram video to Love Hina Again. It's 90% still images... and not done yet because I've suddenly become mixed up in 3 projects, plus fansubbing, plus other stuff in real life... heh...dokidoki wrote: Hey, thanks. Oh yeah, and it's not hosted anywhere.

In any case, I find the idea of a still image video to be cool. You had a lot of switching still images. My video uses still images in a sequence. For instance, you know that the beat in Dam Dariram is very constant and goes at a good pace. So let's say we take an animation of Narusegawa walking. beginning of the clip is point A, end is point B. We take random screen shots from poaint A to point B, then insert them onto the timeline so that they advance in logical order, but on-beat, thus creating the illusion of motion from still images.
That's my video

I just thought I'd put a little post in this bitter, annoying, sad little thread for some clarification.
When I was allowed to come onto DDR1, NO ONE wanted the THREE songs I did. NO ONE. Now that we're working on the third project, its become some big thing. Where in the fuck were you people (this only includes people complaining now - sorry if I offend) when everyone was struggling to get the first project done?
I didn't know anybody involved in the first project. I personally can't even remember how exactly I found out about it. Al I know is that Brad let me onto the project mostly out of necessity and a nice little heart-felt letter. I did my part, worked my ass off, and the project got done.
Because I did well on the first project, I got to be on the second. I did three fucking videos when there wasn't exactly a high demand to be on the project. Goddamnit, I deserve to be on the project. I have made new friends BECAUSE of the project.
I've heard people speaking of talent not being a consideration for DDR Projects. If this is the case, gambitt would not have done Brilliant2U. I think Jeff is a brilliant graphic designer, and I wanted him to do a track because I knew he was reliable and talented. That's how he got on.
And on a personal note, I did work hard on the dancing bunny. I don't really care if no one likes her (though thank you, MJ, for liking her), but at least I'm trying to do something new with AMVs. At least I worked to create original animation. At least I have imagination enough to do something more with my craft, to try and push myself further. There's so much negativity, what's the point? I was a nobody in the AMV world, I simply worked hard and pushed my own creative boundaries to become some semblance of a somebody. I LIKE sharing my work, it does make me happy.
Oh, and those backgrounds, behind the dancing bunny, yeah, those are scans, still images from the groundwork, not video. Just to let everyone know. I didn't use a frame of video from the show. Personally, I love my bunny, she came from the heart. She did exactly what I wanted her to - caused people to dance like idiots. You see, the DDR project was originally supposed to be a dance/video project, that's what it always was, and those are the rules I follow. If you weren't at AWA, you'll never understand the full extent of DDR. It's more than a simple video, and I love and believe in the project quite a bit.
Oh - and if nobody can see the many layers of composite that were used for the opening select screen, then I've done my job well, and the rest of you can kiss off. I get paid to do this shit. I've studied and analyzed and worked in editing longer than 90% on this fucking forum. I know what I'm capable of. If a lot of people around here had a lot more imagination, perhaps they would too.
