The only person I was related to that died of cancer was my aunt. Brain cancer or something. I was young really so I don't remember feeling much pain from that loss.

I don't know you as much, Zet but I will be cheering you on <3

I don't have any relatives that have passed away from cancer, but I have lost friends, and watched some of my friends struggle as their children are going through cancer. My friend Tonya lost her 4 year old to neuroblastoma almost 2 years ago, and I participate in 5ks to raise money to find a cure for that particular cancer form. From what I understand, it's an extremely aggressive cancer in small children. We loved Ember, and until the very end, it was hard to tell she was such a sick little girl. My other friend's daughter found out she had cancer halfway through her Senior year of high school, and is still battling it. They hope that this round of chemo has taken care of most of it, and that she will be approved for surgery soon.

Cancer sucks!

My hopes and prayers are with you!

This may sound like a weird piece of advice, but if you are feeling any pain, take comfort in knowing this: It is just another sensation your body/mind is feeling. It is no different than anything else you have ever felt, except you may be unfamiliar with it. If you accept pain for what it is-- just another sense-- then it's not so bad.

My Nannan had cancer 3 times. Once was Cervical cancer, which is hereditary in our family. My Mom and Aunt both got tested for it, and luckily my Aunt came clean. However my Mom was close to having it. She had to go in and get a "suspicious" substance removed that they assumed was pre-forming or something, and had to have a hysterectomy for future prevention.

Then my Nannan had Breast Cancer 2 times =3. Everything is "cleared" up now as far as I know, but it did a really big toll on her and has caused a lot of different problems for her now in her life.

My Uncle just last year went in to have some cancerous substances removed. I do not know what he had though, but he is a smoker.. so I think it was something that came from that. I do not know how serious or none serious it was. My mom tends to only tell me things when people are already passed away..

There have been others I have known, but I was never close to them to know a lot of what they had D:

On a different but same note, my sister has been theorized to have : Hereditary Angioedema. At first we thought she might have just been diabetic, but after a lot of tests it turned out that there was nothing wrong that anyone could find. Last year she ending up having what we believe was her 3rd attack. As the first two were miss-diagnosed as tonsillitis. This one was as well until it got really dangerous and scary for her. Her whole body just swells randomly, and different random parts of her body. It feels like her tonsils are swelling, which is why it gets miss-diagnosed but really its her throat swelling up and closing.

It took a lot of family research and constant more tests and seeing her doctor to formulate that she has this. The only thing though is she can only be fully tested for it during an attack. She is signed up to go see a specialist as soon as she has another one. These attacks can happen at any time, she could have one tomorrow or never have one till shes 80. Our Nannan's Uncle had this, but back then no one knew what this problem was. He had to retire at the age of 30 and was bed ridden at that point from this, and dead shortly after. There are "treatments", but rare and expensive. Hopefully, it doesn't get so bad for her that it becomes to the point of having to be bed ridden. Its not Cancer, but its just as scary and life threatening D: and I don't want her to have to go through any more of it. She is only 19, and already been sick enough T_T.

My grandfather has cancer right now. He's the closest thing to a father I have ever had; my mother was a single mom. And it's killing me. He's pretty young for a grandfather, he's only in his sixties. We have disagreements, but he is one of the people I am closest to. He's in remission right now though, which I'm thankful for every day, but I still worry.

My best friend from my childhood's father passed away last Christmas of cancer. He was the second closest thing I ever had to a father, and it was tragic to learn that he had finally succumbed to cancer after him and the rest of the family were so supportive of my family after my grandfather was diagnosed.

A few months ago my mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer.

For all that has fallen victim for the illness, I hope the very best.
Lots of love and encouragement from Sweden.

Here's my current state (among a little bit more).

this probably isn't the time for a horoscope joke, huh...

well my grandma died of cancer when i was like 9 or 10 i believe, but i didn't know her too well so it wasn't so bad. Although i always saw dr. pepper in her fridge and for some reason i related that with the cancer and to this day it is my least favorite soda. 50/50 is a pretty good movie, you should check it out, if you haven't (you probably have...)

hope all goes well!

After taking participation in all the activities for the fight against breast cancer, we recently got new treatments and a new laboratory dedicated to the study of all kinds of cancer thanks to the support of the local people. We even got a new law that all the years, a day of the year will be dedicated to activities in the memories of all dead and living people that are dealing with cancer.

Curious note: After we got that lab, ironically the amount of patients with cancer was drastically reduced. And instead lately I've been gotten instead diabetic patients :o
Seems the people is still scared with the lab cause like always there is people that opposed to the construction of the lab. Meh, Shame on them

My mom was diagnosed with Melanoma when I was only 3 or so. For those that don't know, it's the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
Well, she's a surviver. But it wasn't until she was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma a couple weeks ago that I found out she actually had cancer before. SCC isn't nearly as bad as Melanoma, and it's much more common, but because she's had skin cancer before, plus the fact that it's "aggressive" adds to its severity. They have to do a wide incision in a few weeks, which will pretty much leave her with a gaping hole in her leg. She'll also have to go through some form of Chemo. So far, all is well, but my mom is... well, very fragile, even before all of this, due to a really bad left leg due to something unrelated to cancer, so no one in my family really wants to think about it.
Breast cancer is also very common in my family, though none in my immediate family have it as of yet.

Nice to see an update on you, by the way (:
It's comforting seeing your strength and how well you're doing, as I can imagine that same kind of attitude in my mom. I hope all continues to do well.
