Needless :: Outcast + Creatures of the Night :: Multi-Anime
YouTube Link (If you'd prefer):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lqFz-HE ... ideo_title
Okay, this is my second go at posting an AMV on this site. First one had a bit of a conflict with Production I.G.
Any sort of criticisms or congratulations are welcome.
List of things I need to work on:
Transitions, lipsyncing, video effects, music emphasis (will add more as I get them)
I hope you enjoy!
EDIT: 'nother AMV. This one is a romance... kind of...

Re: Needless :: Outcast
I think that, on the whole, you could have used a little more movement/sync with the music. You've got the mood down (a fitting song and anime matching well), but they just didn't fit as well together without keeping flow with the music. Hit dem beats! :3
And yeah, the lipsync also needs some work. But more importantly, I don't think the lip sync was necessary. More or less, lip sync needs a reason to be there. Since you focused on action, I'd keep it to that.

Re: Needless :: Outcast
Thanks for the advice Code. I didn't originally intend to make it an attempt at lipsyncing, but as Needless is a kind of parody of Shounen, it seems to have a lot of fighting scenes with them talking at the same time. I accidentally synced up near the start, and decided to see what I could pull off with the rest of the AMV.
I'm also starting to learn that even 9 and half hours is a bit too short of time to put into an AMV if I want it to be above standard quality. I'll try to emphasize more on the music in my next project.
I hope you'll be willing to critique me in my future efforts!

Re: Needless :: Outcast
This lovely thing is called "lip flap". Where a character is talking in an AMV when it's not intentionally lip syncing or serving a purpose. In this case, you might suggest masking your AMVs so that you cover up the characters mouths so they keep their mouths shut. A lot of people use this to make their AMVs look more professional and adds that touch of finesse that really makes an AMV shine. There are great masking guides on youtube and on the org [check out the pen tool guide if that's your kind of thing, I use after effects or premier pro when it's simpler, myself].Tenshi no Ikari wrote:Thanks for the advice Code. Plus, many people here more heavily critique lip sync, because this AMV really shows how well it's done.
Many AMV editors spend a week or more (some months) making their AMVs. I personally spend at least 2-3 weeks myself, but that does include me asking friends to help and test the AMV and look for ways to improve it too. Generally, it's best to take your time if you really want your work to shine.I'm also starting to learn that even 9 and half hours is a bit too short of time to put into an AMV if I want it to be above standard quality. Re: Needless :: Outcast
yeah pretty much what code said, every piece with lipsync in it was pretty awful for the video. but what didn't have lipsync, i could see some potential! just don't do lipsync ever and you'll probably put out somethin pretty cool!
or do lipsync, but make sure it's a comedy video...

Your wish has been answered Gotegenks: An AMV without any lipsyncing.
If I'm reading the rules correctly I'm allowed to just throw more AMVs into here as I complete them if it's within a week.
Download should be up soon, just sharpened up the colors.

Re: Needless :: Outcast + Creatures of the Night :: Multi-An
I really enjoyed Creatures of the Night.
Good concept at the least. You really created quite a lovely romantic piece to start things off. From there, we expect to see the world of these two to really blossom, but then you hit us with the zombie Apocalypse and kill them off. Good combination of the static over the Webber bit to transition into the darker song.
I still think that your action and sycning needs a bit of work (during the more upper beated tempos and slower scenes being prominent), but I mentioned this in more specifics on your youtube page. But you did a really nice job editing the slow bits and capturing those parts of the song. I do wish we'd seen a little closure with the Bakemongatari characters though. Just something at the end to really clench the end of their story and if they survived the end.
Oh, and still lip flap and some glitchy bits (like at 4:00).
However, one thing I'd like to point out with the first bakemongatri bit is that I wish you'd cut the falling bit from the sky. Besides it being cliche' by this point, it really didn't fit into the "night" theme you started off with.
But on the whole, a marked improvement in areas.
