At least you're getting job offersCodeZTM wrote:The Career Fair blew chunks. Though I'm sure the economy had something to do with that. >_>
Granted, I have 3 job offers and am not hurting, but one of the places I REALLY wanted to go work for was there, and they basically blew me off and said they weren't hiring accounting majors, despite the fact that the flyer for the career fair said they were.
And of all the things that got my resume into someone's hands was my fucking html/css expertise! Forget the 2 years of interning and 6 years of newspaper experience, it was the damn HTML/CSS thing that got them excited!

Re: Vent Thread
Battlefield 3 keeps crashing my system. I played through the entire single player campaign without a problem, but around 5 minutes into a multiplayer match my system crashes. This wouldn't be a massive problem if it was just the game, as I could hop into another match, but when it's my whole system and I have to reboot, it's no fun. A lot of others are having this issue, none of which had it during beta. I'm really dissapointed that I went to midnight release and payed $70 so I could play it at release when I could've waited for a price drop, and I can't even play it. I feel like they're focusing on fixing the console bugs and pretty much ignoring PC. It's getting really, really frustrating. Hopefully a patch of some sorts is released tomorrow.

By the time I restart it after, it's usually around 65 degrees C. My memory also seems to be fine. >.>Pwolf wrote:what the temp of your video card when it crashes?

sounds like someone needs to download Rivatuner or ATI Tray Tools and manually set the GPU fan to 80% or more (and possibly back off on gpu and memory clocks)

Re: Vent Thread
So, I was complaining last month that my paycheck was terrible, because in their infinite wisdom the university decided to divide my pay for teaching into 4 months, but my fees for tuition (as a PhD student) into the first 3. That left me with very little money ($300 after rent + main bills) to live on, not to mention a nasty credit card debt from the summer that I still needed to cover. I was pissed, but at least I could still live. Figured it wouldn't get any worse - could only get better; lived modestly to say the least and have actually been losing weight due to saving money on food.
Anyway, I thought that at the very least, the university wouldn't be able to make me angrier than I already was, and once I got over the stupid paycheck, it was all good.
Until earlier today... well, let me just paste the IRC log on this:

[18:31] <Otohiko> fuck waterloo
[18:31] <Otohiko> you fucking bloodsucking motherfucker cockcunts
[18:31] <Otohiko> (I bet you've never heard me swear like this before, huh)
[18:32] <Otohiko> you know how I was bitching last month that my paycheck was miserly
[18:32] <trythil> yes
[18:32] <Otohiko> because my teaching job was paid for 4 months, but the university deducted tuition during first 3 months
[18:32] <Otohiko> so I was like "goddamit"
[18:32] <Otohiko> so this morning, I check my account
[18:32] <Otohiko> and I actually have more money than I expected
[18:33] <Otohiko> I naturally praise Jah Rastafari and pay down most of my credit card bill promptly
[18:33] <Otohiko> several hours later, I get this in my email...
[18:34] <Otohiko> it's their problem and I'm not taking this shit from them
[18:35] <Otohiko> how the fuck is this even normal.
[18:35] <Otohiko> I just basically told them that since I already used up the funds and my payroll is guaranteed for an extra month anyway, they can take away that money from my December paycheck
[18:35] <Otohiko> ...and go fuck themselves
...seriously

At your request (in your Promissory Note for Fall 2011), a payment plan was established earlier in the term to direct a portion of your monthly pay to your student account to pay your student fees for the Fall 2011 term. We’ve been advised that because of an administrative error, the deduction for October was not made.
Please arrange to make a bank payment directly to your student account to pay the amount which was inadvertently paid to you

The fact that you didn't reply with an essay of fuck yous is surprising enough. Good luck with this.Otohiko wrote:So, I was complaining last month that my paycheck was terrible, because in their infinite wisdom the university decided to divide my pay for teaching into 4 months, but my fees for tuition (as a PhD student) into the first 3.
