  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Blurry Fantasy (remake)

Post by Kawatta-kun » Fri Oct 14, 2011 7:19 pm

It does not have yet a poster, don't know if I'll make one even.

For some time now, years even, I wanted to do a remastered version of an old AMV of mine, (click for any details about concept). While editing I understood the remastering would be impossible, since there was one more thing I'd like to do, which was to show improvements. So it is now a remake.
Reasons for this. Blurry Fantasy from 2008 is one of my best AMV's, at least regarding story or any kind of concept related to lyrics, in my opinion. It is a bit "sad" to be with the visual quality it has due to my lack of encoding knowledge back then. In other hand, this remaked version is to show my present vision of the older one, my present editing style and using the "Advent Children Complete" movie possibilities (focusing even more in Cloud's memories, eg. Zack).

I'm not 100% happy about it, but happy about the outcome. I guess I gave to it more concept than it already had by changing clips and, maybe, the pacing. I also look through FX at AE, tho nothing too hard, it was just to train myself to get used to the application.
It took me a bit to finish. Since I am now working at a full-time, less editing time.

This project is also the first one using Adobe Premiere (editing) and Adobe After Effects (post production).

I LOVED the part with the voiceover of Zack. And the ending was really nice too. The editing overall was pretty decent, effects were nicely placed for the majority though I wasn't hugely fond of the purple waveform floating about midway. I tend not to really enjoy FF videos that much nowadays(used to edit with it too much) but this was nice to see. Good job!
