OK, guess it's just one of those things, humor being so subjective. And I'm biased since I designed it as dramatic. And knew the song since I was a kid (47 years ancient now). Thanks.

That's the bumble bee tuna one, right? Love it, and my daughter thinks it's hilarious.

Yup... the one you are having issue with is the Space Cowboy one?
it was cute, but unless you suspend your belief/knowledge of the show I can see why people would find it funny. Hard part is that Bebop is very well known.

Yep, that's it.
Not meant to be cute at all. I guess I just looked at it as raw footage. I've seen Bebop several times and re-watched it again for this. I just see the characters in the story of the song.
Ahh well, as long as people LIKE it, I don't really care why I suppose. Guess I'll just stick to comedy.

Categories doesn't always have to be clean, my Toradora! AMV Rough Love was made to be a romantic comedy...HalOfBorg wrote:Yep, that's it.

it could also be because you are known for comedy.. so people expect your videos to be comedy.

Hmmm. I guess it's nice to be 'known' for something positive for a change, rather than just for my odor, lack of personality, hygiene...........

All I can think of here is Waldo's Come Fly with Me vid put to Cartmen's version of the song. Was meant to be serious. The audio and source in the end made it come off as entirely not serious. It just kind of happens.
I've always found it fascinating in both my writing and video editing endeavors when the viewer/reader finds different meaning in my work. I actually love hearing how different their view of the work is compared to mine.
You know, I'm kind of reminded of Finding Forester as well on this.
Though I suppose it does kind of go without saying that generally people expect the same kind of thing out of you that you generally put out. One of my favorite vids from Doki is Colors (at least I think that's what it is called), a drama vid that didn't make it into ACEN's contest the year it competed. Most viewed the vid as on odd piece because they're used to Doki comedies and this was not. I find it a rather sad personally, as so many couldn't get past their paradigm in order to see the vid on it's own.
I haven't watched your vid yet Hal, but I'll give it a good look soon here.

I didn't think your video was funny, but some the masking looked like masking you may see in a comedy amv but it wasn't enough to make the whole thing funny.
But the idea of things becoming funny based on expectations reminds of the time I was reading Chuushingura for a class. I read in the introduction that it was a puppet play, so I thought of sock puppets, and let me tell you everything becomes instantly funny when you think a sock puppets is saying it. So as I read the play I was laughing because I imagined sock puppet ronin trying to avenge their master. However Japanese puppet theater is a high form of art and is taken very seriously, so I was more than a little embarrass to learn that factoid
