I'm working on my 15th AMV as of now and the average AMV in editing time will take me between 30 and 75 hours and you can add in another ten hours for the planning.

The fastest I've made a video is 3 hours. 3 very intense hours, and the video had only stright cuts. Nothing fancy. My current project... Well it's taking me FOREVER to do. I've spent hours and hours, and only 1/3rd of the way through it. Then it's heavy on effects.

I can make a decent video in apx. 2 weeks, but that means two weeks of atleast 6 hrs per day, and weekdays with atleast 2 hours per day. So 44 hrs. So around 50 hours is average for a decent video.

Shin Hats tracks video statistics in several categories, so here's the averages from a sample of 45 (of 62 total, but demos don't count, and a few others slipped through the cracks):

the average SH video is about 4:10 long;

incorporates 85 cuts;

and took 37 hours from start of initial capture to completion of final full-quality build.

ranges:
time from 1:00 to 9:04;
cuts from 19 to 177;
and production time from 9 to 157 hours.

average production pace:
3.32 videos per month, for a rounded pace of 39 VPY. (Don't try this at home.)

These statistics should not be taken as relevant for anyone else, as SH production is done in MPEG2 using a nonstandard editor, and real-time drafted rather than storyboarded, with a severely and intentionally limited selection of effects, most of which do not require significant processing time.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

Well, I've made about 25 videos, but most of them were crappy DBZ vids set to some random song, so they are not available.

The longest I have spent on a video is 80 hours including about a 10 hour ripping time over June to Sept this past year.

6 weeks each for Self-Titled and Sappy Self-Indulgence....but I didn't work every day. An average of 4 hours a day, maybe 4 or 5 days out of the week. I don't really know though, I don't count hours...all the editing sessions are so spread out it's impossible to keep track.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

I've made about 18 vids, but only the 7 most recent are really even worth mentioning. I started out taking maybe 3-4 hours. But my last vid took maybe 30. My current vid (which is 48 secs into production) has already taken me nine hours, and may be my longest ever.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

I made 1 video and it took me overnight. I'd say it was pretty decent for my first video, I captured all of it myself and blah blah blah. Like I said it's ok, but it's nothing spectacular, so i decided I wanted my next video to be better. In the past year I've gained a lot of experience, and I'm now working on my second video. I watched all of trigun, reviewed the episodes, nd took notes on any scenes that might be of use. That took me as long as it took to watch the whole thing, it was about a week and a half. Now I'm converting all the video into mpeg-1. As of right now I have the first trigun dvd completly recorded and converted on my machine. I'm just going over the best versions of the song right now, and as soon as I find the one I want I'm going to start editing. I decided just converting the entire series was a waste of time, so the next dvd I convert will be the one with the scenes on it that I want to open with. I'm guessing if I work, it'll take a little less than a month. and oh yes, btw it took me about 10 hours on my first vid.
