Hi, I'm new

Post by imp » Sun Aug 07, 2011 6:56 am

Hi, as the title states I'm new here, and kinda new to creating AMVs.

(first of all I hope this topic landed in the right section)

Well then, I heard this rumor about users on this site being pretty negative about youtube.
Why is that so? Or is that just to keep those youtube haters (or even bad editors) away?
(did I just break the first rule about youtube?) Also, I just can't seem to dislike a site where there's no upload limit ^.~

Anyway, I'd send this as a message to a moderator rather than posting it here, but I seem to be unable to use the private messaging service as of yet.

Thanks for taking your time reading/replying, and I hope we'll get along well.

greets,
Johannes
(thought, I'd prefer "imp")

Nobody here wants to keep anyone away. The bad editors are the ones that are afraid of the org, the ones that can't handle a good criticism and likes brainless comments. The ones that want to improve are the ones who stay here.

I'm also in youtube, but I don't think we are not pretty negative about it, it's just that we are against the same style over and over, something that happens a lot in youtube.

Alright, thanks for your reply ^.^
so it seems this rumor was just a rumor then.

Welcome to the org!

Yeah, one of the features of PHPBB3 that we use is the "newly registered user" group. You're in the group until a mod or admin approves a post you make. It cuts down on the spam everyone else sees. Also, for spam reasons, you can't send PMs if you're in the newly registered user group.

Now then, on to those rumors you've heard.
Like TritioAFB said, we try to give constructive criticism here and (generally) strive for improvement. Yeah, not all the comments you'll get are constructive...but that's something that happens across all communities.

I think this post from Pwolf sums it up pretty well.

It all boils down to what people are expecting when they post a video in AMV Announcements or the Opinion Exchange. If you're only looking for more hits, you'll probably end up disappointed (and think that we're super negative, elitist amv pigs).

hurray for anti-spam systems :D

I actually joined here to receive criticism (thought, I don't know how I'll handle it) as I didn't get any feedback from youtube
(then again, I posted my first video like a week ago...)

being elitist is alright, as long as you deserve it, about the "pig-part"... we'll see ^.~

If they're trying to keep "bad editors" out, then they've failed by keeping me around as long as they have!

Hey, let me be among one of the first to welcome you.

So again, welcome and I hope you'll find things to your liking.
