Post by sportsgirl1391 » Sun Jun 19, 2011 4:00 pm

I didn't make it as a finalist so sad my life. =/ But owell im glad for the others who made it.

I tried entering in the action category I had a couple other videos but yeah didnt make it I didn't think they would. I put my effort into this one. Oh yeah btw sorry kinda bad quality on here still trying to figure out how to render smaller file without losing quality. Here it is on youtube alittle better quality

well done :up:

i noticed a few things that may have dropped your scoring for AX. not all your aspect ratios matched, source quality was low for some series (dbz especially), and i kept hearing glitches in the audio track. AX judges are very meticulous about technical merit, not just editing skills.

but don't get discouraged. your sense of pace and action is superb and i enjoyed this vid a lot. your combination of series blended together really well and i was pleasantly surprised several times when the anime changed and i didn't realize it. the competition for AX this year was very fierce so don't take it to heart. enter more competitions. and make more vids. :amv:

Along with the aspect ratios and general video quality that Rider already pointed out...the fact that it was a multi-anime video actually hurt it for me. It became random action without a point to it. If you would focus on maybe one or two characters/shows I feel the viewer would connect a lot better. Otherwise it feels like you're listening to music with a bunch of scenes flashing in front of you that you don't really care about.

Especially when you have a song like this, you want to keep the video super focused. If you don't feel for the character or sense the connection between the character and song it turns bad quickly. >.>;

It might be a good idea to get a pool of beta testers going on for next time ;p That way you can try and catch these things before you put too much of yourself into it.

Keep trying :up:

Thank you :) That helps me to know for next time. Everyone keeps telling me there are glitches in the audio. But idk if its my computer or what but I seriously havent caught on to it. Yeah im still learning when it comes to quality and rendering and converting so now I know for my next amv thank you so much for that. :)

I'm probably gonna agree with Yue and Rider. I think this video would make a good pre-show entry, but it would ultimately lose to an action video that has you connect with the characters better.

It's a good effort and I'm sure it'll do better at other cons. The competition at AX is always fierce.

It's all right, no major flaws besides the aspect ratio, but I've seen way too many AMVs with this same concept: close ups of characters looking dramatic, or swinging a weapon. A three minute montage of upper torso shots, with the occasional zoom-out when someone attacks, gets tired pretty quickly. But that's just my opinion anyway, I've seen enough of them there is probably a market for them :P

For the most part, Yue already said how I feel about this video, but I just wanna add one thing. When you use multiple anime in a video, its very important that they have consistancy. Having a bunch of hand to hand combat scenes will look really weird when you throw in a gundam fight scene. And some of the series that you used have animation styles so different that they sick out like sore thumbs. The Naruto, Gundam and DBZ scenes are the best examples of this.

Oh and, If you want to reduce the size of your AMVs without reducing quality, you gotta use the programs in the AMV app. More specifically, you gotta use Zarx264 and Avisynth
