For any of you computer geeks out there, I've just been given a green light to acquire equipment that's an even bigger step up from the previous generation i7 units that we were originally going to use. This is the equipment that AMV Chef will be using for at least the next few years.

The equipment is as follows:

Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7-2600 3.4ghz Processor
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series CAS-7 F3-10666CL7Q-16GBXH Memory (4 x 4GB = 16GB)
Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ - 1TB HDD
ASUS ENGTX560 DCII OC/2DI/1GD5 Geforce GTX 560
AOC E2343FK 23" Monitor 1920x1080 resolution

16gb of ram and a GTX 560 are a little too much IMO but its your budget. those should last a good while at least

They were designed to be overkill so that they won't go obsolete anytime too soon. We'll probably be sticking with these units for at least three years, maybe five if I throw 32gb in them down the road.

Big thanks go to AX Live for these machines. Their production team (which I'm part of) gets them during the off season, who will be using them pretty heavily. AX will get their money's worth. To prevent excess wear on the drives though, the AMV Chef drives will be pulled and stored until the following year.

32gb is way too much (i guess it depends on what AX Live does with them... what the hell is AX Live and what do they do?), you're going to be wasting money unless you plan on running everything off ram drives.. The current setup should last you 5 years easy and most likely even longer.

Depends on how big of a resource pig Windows 9 or CS8 is by that time.
