Disney drops Fairy Tale Movies .. reason?

Cartoon Network has redeemed itself to some extent tho. Atleast they're broadcasting old cartoons again.

PS. Im glad Disney stopped their animated movies. They should focus on making the Pirates of the Caribbeans 4th movie a decent one// like its previous entries.

The recent fairy Tale movies in disney have been a little different than their older ones. I absolutely love the movies and you could tell that they were changing a little. The focus of Tangled wasn't to get married and while I havent watched The Princess Frog, I heard that the main character was actually hardworking and didn't automatically fall in love with the guy. Also think about Lilo & Stitch. That wasn't about princesses getting married either. They really haven't been constantly producing princess-marriage movies for a while.

Also, let's think about the fairy-tale marriage movies they made. It was literally about girls who did nothing else with their lives, but got married. Cinderella's life was all better because she was pretty and danced with a prince at a ball D= Ariel was 15 and got married. Sleeping Beauty was about getting married and snow white. The list goes on.

Mulan was awesome, but the point of that movie wasn't to get married. They probably saw the success of Pixar and Miyazaki and thought that it was time to take influence from that.

I would like to see the rest of the article though to see if it says anything else about what they're doing with their Animation as a whole.

Too bad, Tangled was one of the first non-Pixar Disney movies I liked in a long long time.

Coincidentally, Tangled was one of the first non-Pixar Disney movies where both her parents were alive, she didn't have tits even bigger than Barbie's, and where the female lead really had a personality and development as the movie progressed. Usually Disney princess = brainless bimbo with *HUGE* knockers who's sole job is to get wet when hero boy came around.

Mulan was awesome, but the point of that movie wasn't to get married.

The film gets pretty stupid after Mulan cleverly starts an avalanche that practically wipes out the entire Hun army. Right after that, Shang and the others find out that Mulan is really a woman and are beyond annoyed. Because of her deception, they turn their backs on her. Hey, dick-for-brains, this woman just wiped out the Huns. Give her a break, okay? To win their approval, however, Mulan pretty much has to do the same thing again, proving a point which I'm sure isn't lost on the women toiling in Disney's corporate headquarters: If you want to get anywhere, you'd better be ready to conquer some Huns. Twice. Nothing like a good legend to keep those uppity women from thinking a raise might be in order.

Instead of doing this little princess crap Disney just starts selling miniskirts and makeup to 6 year old girls. Bratz was a huge deal back when Disney was squeaky clean. If Disney sets the standard for whoring then everyone else will have to follow.

Disney didn't say Tangled was the last one ever. It could just be the last one we see for a long time.

This is nothing new. Between "Atlantis" and "The Princess and the Frog" there was an 8 year gap of no movies with any kind of princess. The "Disney Princess" movie is a more modern notion (thanks to Disney making a whole franchise out of the idea) than in the company's early filmography. Most of the princess movies were created after "The Little Mermaid" than before it.

Princess Eilonwy was 4 years before Ariel
Maid Marian was 12 years before Princess Eilonwy
Aurora was 14 years before Maid Marian
Cinderella was 9 years before Aurora
and Snow White was 13 years before Cinderella

Personally I think they're running out of fairy tales to adapt. But again...not a huge deal. The majority of Disney films don't have a princess in them anyway. *needs moar Fantasia*

No fear. Pixar is working on their first "fairy tale" movie, "Brave".

Disney is also really good at churning out repacks of its movies and direct-to-video tie-ins for decades after the initial thing is created. Nothing new doesn't mean they won't continue to monetize their existing franchises for the next 50 years as much as they have been already.
