My parents named me, main reason is my dads name is David and of course Solomon was the son of David so there you go. I dont mind my name, but its weird that no one can spell it. People think there is an "a" or an "e" in there.

2. What about nicknames? What do people call you? Do you have any interesting nicknames for anyone else?

Sal, Sally, Salamander, Saul, Solo-mint. My favorite is "Jamaican" . I like giving nicknames to girls I like(romantically or not), its my way of showing affection. I refuse to repeat any of those names here.

3. What about your username(s)? Does anyone call you by a username in "real life"?

Machina21 is the name of an old, old character that I made up in a story I wrote years ago.

My mom picked my name (Christine), and I have yet to really ask why she chose that for me. I hated it as a kid, but now I kinda like it. It also looks nice on a business card.

2. What about nicknames? What do people call you? Do you have any interesting nicknames for anyone else?

Just about everyone calls me Christy. Only people I work with or who are calling to sell me something call me Christine. Other nicknames I have had are "Ladybug" from my grandma, and a litany of interesting ones from my dad including things like "Giblet Joints".

My kids have had numerous nicknames, including what we called them before they were born. We also call them by their names plus the suffixes 'ottomus' and 'ocerous', and have many others that we use. It helps to get them inside faster when we call them, because the nicknames are called as a last resort, and we always use the more embarrassing ones. My husband was getting a masters in linguistics when we met, so he has fun coming up with different verbal patterns and twists on nicknames. They usually stick.

3. What about your username(s)? Does anyone call you by a username in "real life"?

Yes. Most of the editors from the org that I have met in real life call me Jub or Jubby. Even some of the kids in my daughter's anime club call me Ms. Jub. I have also had a pet rat named after my screen name .

Both my parents I suppose .. I was supposed to be a boy.. D: But unfortantly I am a girl :3 And Ashley means Ash of Meadow? Whatever that is supposed to mean, I guess I grow ash's in meadows ... I don't actually like my name, I would rather be named something else interesting like Ray(Rei) maybe Yuuko, something anime or harry potter related would be best for me..

I get called mostly Ash or Ashy.. I generally prefer Ashy though as I got sick of being called Ash, and Ashley over and over by random people. In high school people used to call me "the flame" because my last name stands for fire or flame, or "shlee machine" why? Probably because my teacher made this attempt at a joke to call some group I was in Team Flame.. :/ And "shlee machine, because I was good at floor hockey.. once.

Nope. I think it would be weird if I was to walk down the street and someone call me Chained(E)Studio!!~! Let alone if someone did call me that they'd prolly be some stalker..

Over the last few years I've been called Jesse a lot (particularly when I was in Chicago at the same time as other Cal) which is a shortening of "Jessica", which I think Aes was the first to dub me? Either her or Ileia. Some people such as Yue still just call me Jessica anyway :p I've taken to Jesse a lot. Thinking about legally changing my first name to Jesse and making Cal my middle name.

This was actually first a short form of Deaf Jester, which was a stupid user name so we were making fun of you for that.

My mom gave me my name, Todd, and the very last second. Up until the official naming I was going to be Joel. My dad even though I was Joel until my mom told him otherwise. I like Todd better I think. I don't know if it means anything but my sister always assumed I was named after the fox in the fox and the hound.

Nicknames. Oh I've had a few. I've had "the toddler", "retodd(@ retodd.com)", I know these sound mean but they arn't supposed to be and nick names are fine if you can take them with good humour! and more recently Toddsie (which came from a stint where all of CDVV had mafia names for ACEN) I still like kit's ... Vinne Foccacia

I call prod Jesse, Kitsuner Kit (i like that name as a name and it helps because we all know a couple of other Jons) umm some other nicknames i have picked up here and there, but mainly I call people by their name if I know it.

I've had a few people call me .FC. in real life... but that's rare and it sounds weird most people just call me Todd.

And now it is the year of the Dinosaur.
But I like adding Dr, to the beginning of my name.
so Dr.Dinosaur it is.
I actually really like this name, it has alliteration, sounds good when said out loud, and dinosaurs are badass.
I might keep it, then again, I might not.

@Castor, That's what Brad said. My middle names are Walter Bruno.

@Godix, Actually when I was coming up with a pro wrestler persona for myself I was going to have the finishing moves "The serge suppressor and the Power Serge. A submission and a slam respectively.

Interesting fact about the last name, It's actually supposed to be Sergi but my relatives when they came from Italy to Ellis Island got their name changed and they pretty much had to stick with it.

So now my last name gets confused with eastern Eurpoean First names.

1. My English named was copped from Alex from Family Ties. This is not a fucking joke; it is literally how I got my name. I am not even legally "Alexander". As for my Chinese name, I really don't have much of a clue, but I believe it has something to do with jade polished to perfection, or something like that. My parents chose very archaic words to use for my name, and I often have to write it out for other Chinese people, since they're homonymous with much more common Chinese words.

2. Most people just call me by my last name. I think it originated when I was in middle school, since in my history class we had four or five kids named Alex, and our teacher just called us Mister/Miss Last Name. I honestly respond to my last name better (which can make it odd when my family is in company with my friends). I very rarely introduce myself by my first name, and if I do it's my polite way of saying "Fifteen minutes from now, I'm never talking to you again".

3. My username is from a rap my friend and I made up when we were 11 or so. Its meaning has since been lost to antiquity. Most people refer to me as "sto" online, but I don't really like people calling me that in person. It's a little weird.

My name is Ben and I think that's pretty much the best name ever.

No really, I do. At least it fits me like a glove. No I'm not big or some batty old man. I just think it's cool

Why is my nickname 'Knowname' than? well... there is 'Know' reason, neither do I 'know' why. I was just trying to come up with a name for Gemstone, a mud back in the early 90's on the internet where the only ppl to be there were EPIC nerds so... appropriately THEY wouldn't let me play unless I had an EPIC nerd RPG name! So I thought of names like Silvermain (taken) and Thistledwarf (bad idea... thank GOD it was taken) on and on until I was just like 'screw it' and just named myself Knowname my last name was Battery. Oddly enough the mods didn't have a problem with that . So since than Knowname has become my internet name. I do not use it anywhere but the internet... cuz it sounds absolutely geeky.

Recently I got fed up on how many 'Knowname's there are out there now! (I'm ABSOLUTELY sure I was the first) that I'm experimenting with a new name, pdraggy. I came up with it as Noname is a character from Puff the Magic Dragon. I was watching some VH1 spin on Pdiddy at the time SO... I just named myself pdraggy. My Christian friends don't like it but w/e. It's my email address, aim, msn, steam and probably other handles.

1. My mom named me 'Charles' after a friend she had when she was growing up. She told me he was something of a prodigy, and he could pick up anything, learn it in days, and excel at it (Music, art, writing, anything). I guess she thought his genius would rub off on me if she named me after him...

2. I've had a ton of nicknames over the years, with Chuck being the obvious favorite XD The one that stayed with me the longest was 'Chuck Bob,' which was a nickname my class supervisor gave me when I was 13. It stuck with me and my friends for years. Even to this day some of my friends still call me by it.

3. I came up with macchinainterna for my username because of my favorite band, the Goo Goo Dolls and their online club, called the Inner Machine. At first I wanted to go with an album title for a username until one day I was messing with a language translation site for shits and giggles and I came up with the Italian translation for 'ínner machine.' I liked the sound of it and went with it. The reason why I type it as all one word with no caps is because at the time I was on LJ and I had to put it together as one word in order to fit the site's 15 character limit on usernames. I liked how it looked and decided to go with it.

Nobody ever calls me by my username. I don't force that torture on anyone or anything except my keyboard when I sign in. Though on some sites I've had people call me by 'macc' or 'macchin.'
