Cowboy Bebop: My Body is a Cage
Welp, this actually went on the org almost a month ago, but I wanted to wait until after AnimeUSA the "official" premiere date to actually "announce" this one, as I was sure that this was the one of two submissions that actually made the finals, but then it turned out it was my other Arcade Fire vid that made it in, and then I forgot and had a bunch of other stuff get in the way, so...better late than never!

This was pretty cool. I really liked the mood you maintained throughout the video. This fits the show nicely in my opinion. Nice job.

Were you at Nekocon or AnimeUSA? It was definitely the non-competing at Nekocon and supposedly in the overflow for AnimeUSA, though I wasn't at that overflow so I can't tell you for sure.Enigma wrote:Saw this earlier, no idea where. But i enjoyed it a bit. GJ

really good video. one of my faves with this source. only issue is that it started off a bit boring and it almost made me lose interest but the ending made up for it.

This was awesome.
Can't believe I missed the announcement for it and never noticed till I saw it in the Op Exchange forum.
I guess I kinda covered most of the aspects already in the Op but anyway, I'll say again, I loved the mood you had going on and the sync was really well done too.

Nowadays Cowboy Bebop rarely gets used anymore in the true sense of trying to capture that good old sentimental sadness of the anime, but you made one of those oldschool vids again and I gotta thank you for that. I can watch this lots of times when I'm going to be in that kinda mood, great work man.

Thank you, all, and Ingow?. That's...that's exactly the mood I was trying to capture. *sniffle*Ingow wrote:Nowadays Cowboy Bebop rarely gets used anymore in the true sense of trying to capture that good old sentimental sadness of the anime, but you made one of those oldschool vids again and I gotta thank you for that. Actually, with the opinions that have been left, I've been trying to keep track of how many of them have seen CB and how many haven't in order to see how differently it effects these two groups. What I've found is that while both primarily talk about the atmosphere, those that haven't seen it have many more interpretations as to what I was going for, and more readily agree with the notion that I am casting a different light on BeBop, while the interpretations of people that have seen the show believe I am following the show much more closely, instead highlighting the nostalgic tragedy of the show. Both are kinda right, what I meant when I said awhile back that I was showing a different light on the characters of BeBop by moving that aspect, which was only in some of the episodes to the front and center, which subsequently highlights some very interesting parallel narratives and storytelling devices. CB is one of those shows with hundreds upon hundreds of little details and backstory that you don't notice until you've seen the show about 3 or 4 times, so at the same time, I was leaving the exact events the way I depicted them open to interpretation.
In addition, I've found that while most know about CB, and how it ends, very few who have given detailed written opinions have actually seen it, which surprises me, as it's one of the all time old school greats that is literally required viewing for any Otaku.
I know it's over 10 years old, but it certainly doesn't feel that way...or maybe that's just nostalgia talking. I mean, I'm only 22 goddammit! I shouldn't feel this old!
I'm also surprised at how many people have said that it was good-looking. I personally think the org and youtube uploads look like crap, but maybe that's because I'm used to working with the master copy.
