Well, here we go. This is a first upload to the ORG.
I'm looking for some tips and comments on how to improve as an editor. If anyone can point me in the right direction on how I can improve, I would greatly appreciate it.
Ironically, I had fun while making this video. It's a pure action video and I wanted to see if I could do something different as well. While I don't watch much anime any more, Cowboy Bebop is still one of my favorite shows. There are a lot of footage that repeats itself in the vid, and I meant it to be that way.
I greatly apologize for the ridiculous high bit rate and the huge size of the vid. I'm still learning how to encode video. If anyone can direct me on encoding tips I would like that.
What was I thinking? First upload.

Re: What was I thinking? First upload.
For a first video, this isn't bad. But I just couldn't help thinking as I watched it that there was too much going on effects-wise. This is typical of first videos. For one you clearly were excited about using all the perks NLEs offer you (i.e. multiple video tracks, masking, etc). Also, you seem to have thrown in every stock effect you could, and to put it bluntly, they look really tacky. That's a general rule: if you plan on using stock effects, at least change the default settings so they don't look so ugly. In the case of this video, that TV Simulator just looked bad, and hardly ever looks good. Even though the music called for an effect like that, I think you had better choices.
Editing-wise, it was solid for the first half and then started to unravel after that. Especially near the end, the video was not near-frantic enough, in my opinion. I did like that you included a fair amount of internal sync, and there were some pretty neat examples of it throughout. In glitchy videos like this, I don't mind extraneous external sync, so all the hard cuts and quick-zooms didn't bother me, but this is one of the few types of videos where I feel that's acceptable.
In all, this is a noble effort, but it does have the feel of being a "first video". It's good to know that you have a handle on the program you're working with (looks like Vegas), so at least you won't have to overcome any technical hurdles in future videos. The main thing I'd advise is to lay off stock effects, or if you insist on using them, see how you can combine stock effects to make something unique. Also, in future videos be careful of over-synching. Although it was okay in this video because that's what the audio called for, typically doing too much sync is a bad thing. There's a balance to find in any song, so if your next video is slower you may not quite have it yet, simply because you really haven't had a chance to try it.
3/5
The file size wasn't bad considering the length of the video and the good quality; I assume you've already read the guides, so outside that I can't give much advice, but your video seems to be within acceptable limits.
Oh, and if you want to see some good glitchy videos, check out any of deafeuphoria's videos. Although they're less action-y than yours, his videos, to me, are good examples of how to use grainy effects to complement glitchy music.

Re: What was I thinking? First upload.
Thanks a bunch CrackTheSky. I guess I should be a little less dependent on the effects next time. Also thanks for recommending deafeuphoria. His videos do a pretty good job with the breakbeat style vids. Overall, thank you for taking the time to take a look at the vid.
