I take requests but rarely get them (usually it's mirko with some pic), though I sometimes ask Dorry to think of some nice title.

As for the banner ideas, the clever ones related to the anime, I have these:

Aha~! Maybe the problem is that I don't know the characters and anime being featured anymore, so I assume they're just anime-style original art pics. If the problem is on my end, then I retract my complaint about the lack of anime banners. ^^; I only recognized two of the anime in the banners you linked, so it probably is on my end. If most anime fans today recognize these characters, then it's just me being out of the loop. Eheh, oops?

On another note though, what would you possibly want to see in banners? Banners kind of have a narrow function as a promotional tool, and there's only so much that can be done within that frame, before they become something other than banners. If you're looking for ART, perhaps the top of a website concerned mostly with establishing a logo+identity is not the place to look for it. And conversely, to people coming in from outside to look at the site, a schizophrenic artfag identity is also not the best way to position the site. Even if many of us fit that description.

Which I never expected to get worthy and appropriately named it "cheeseblaaaaaaaaaaaah"

I used to make them more often, but I don't like doing them much anymore. I usually try to keep them music related (like playing guitar, or listening to headphones). I do have one of a girl at a computer - I added Sony Vegas to her computer screen - I also never expected it to be worthy.

I would say that most of mine are actually from fairly popular anime Shugo Chara, Zetsubou Sensei, Inu Yasha, Lucky Star (even though I don't like it), Air, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Excel Saga, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Pokemon, Death Note, Tokyo Mew Mew, Karin, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Ouran High School Host Club, Ghost in the Shell, The Girl Who Lept Through Time, FLCL, Spirited Away... etc (This is over the years)

Yotsuba isn't anime, but I love her so much I can't help using her XD. Kingdom Hearts isn't either, but I thought it was appropriate because KH videos are posted here.

Katie: The third girl in the spoiler seems to be from Ichigo Mashimaro, other seem like generic original art ^^

As for my list of favorite sources it's Haruhi, Azumanga, TTGL, ef, Lucky Star, Negima, Hidamari Sketch, Clannad, Shinkai, GSG, Strike Witches, Lain, Saki, Bleach, visual novels like Narcissu, Saya no Uta or Katawa Shoujo, Hatsune Miku and of course Touhou.

I usually just browse quality imageboards for anything that I currently like and just browse the folder with all my pictures afterwards.

Oh, and also I like to make either clean banners or bloody banners the most - too bad the bloody ones are usually not so well accepted :<
