Elite Beat Anime

Post by ranmaman » Wed Sep 22, 2010 1:37 am

well.... i got my computer back from the repair shop :P

well first off - if you've ever played or at least seen videos/watched a friend play the DS game Elite Beat Agents you might be familiar with the concept that i was going for here.... if not then i assume you will be lost and not understand a thing

now for the explanation if you don't understand....not sure if my explanation will help any though :P

anyways EBA is a Rhythm Game on the the Nintendo DS in which you tap numbered circles on the screen and follow the beat..... which you help somebody with a problem their having so the Agents dance to help solve them.......yeah :P

now in the final level - the agents get turned to stone by aliens and are brought back from what starts from a little girl cheering which then gets the whole town/city into the cheer which eventually breaks the agents from their stone grave and then they continue to dance to try and thwart off the alien invasion.

well their is no alien invasion here but somebody gets turned to stone...that gets brought back... and it continues as a dance from there..

anyways.. i been working on this video for probably the better half of the year...though not everyday, but this is probably the one video that i spent the most time on.... though if i was Amazing with effects I'm sure it could be even better as i could probably make it a better parody of sorts...but i don't know that much about that kind of thing yet so i went with what i know

anyways i'm quite happy with the result... but if you again if you don't know what the source of the video is - you might be a little lost and just not understand it :P so go look it up on YT :P

a couple scenes get a little whited out from overlapping and a couple of the clips aren't exactly on par quality but it was all i had access too.....especially since everything i did have got wiped when my comp went for repairs XD :( but i think it works as a whole.

and probably one of the bigger issues is that the song does start out with some sort of static that i was unable to get rid of but its only for the first bit before the song actually starts

but i hope you can enjoy it anyway

First off, the idea behind this video was so insanely spectacular that I couldn't stop smiling while watching it. Even when I felt that the video started to drag on, I was still admiring how ingenious it was. I give this video a 4 / 5 on concept

Now, here is where we start to get critical. This AMV has so much unused potential. You really picked a winner with the concept, but the execution could have been a lot better if you had access to higher quality source and had been able to learn a few simple effects to make this more of a EBA parody. I would have loved to see some beat circles in the video, a score counter or maybe a few dual screen moments. Also, the overlays / extended cross fades that you had in the video were really overused and excessive. At some points of the video, I couldn't even see what was on the screen due to the overlays. I think that 1:55 - 2:00 is the best example of this. And lastly, a lot of the scenes that you used were too long and could have been timed better.

overall, I'll give this AMV a 3/5 :D

oh and, if anyone doesn't get the joke, you can watch the last level of EBA here:

Thanks - yeah it does have it faults - but i also spent so long on this video there wasn't too much more i could think of doing with it except for making it more of a true parody as you had suggested with the circles and stuff.

yeah if i knew how to add all that fun stuff in - i so would have - but if you or anyone else would like to help me with that and make and even more epic version - better quality and scene changes and everything i would so be up for that. being my noob-ility to editing with effects or adding stuff.....i can't even mask XD - but anyone who would be interested in improving this please let me know :)
