Does it have to be a car "accident"? Halfway through Eden of the East, the antagonists deliberately run the fat dude over. Well, technically he rolls over them, but that's because they hit him with their car.

Good call. The first episode of Excel Saga also features the main character run over by a truck, and it should work for a serious shot if you don't use too much of it. Halfway through the second season of Hayate the Combat Butler, Hayate leaps from a moving train and a truck runs him over after he lands, but they blend a lot of the frames to make it more dramatic, so I don't know whether that's better or worse for your purposes.
