Re: AMVs for money?
Depends on the ramifications it would have on my taxable income. >:O
No, not really. Probably wouldn't do it. I'd rather do it for free.
Because
1) this is my hobby, not a business. It would suck if I had to so something I'm not fond of.
2) They then get the right to bitch and moan about every little detail
3) That would be blatantly more illegal than AMV's already are.

Yes, because women hate it when you buy them jewelry instead of hand making it, take them to a play instead of acting it out yourself in the living room, take them to a fancy dinner instead of cooking BLTs for her, purchase a good painting for a gift instead of drawing stick figures, etc. Gifts that aren't handmade obviously don't impress the womenz at all...EvaFan wrote:For a romance video gift... Wouldn't do it. Now, if they brought me footage and pictures of the two of them, and maybe bought a royalty free track to provide for the video, hell yeah.

Godix... I now see why you are divorced
. I can't tell if you were serious or not though.
Handmade = better, in most practical situations when it comes to relationships. If all your trying to do is impress the girl then spend that money and go for it. If you really want her to know how much she means to you then go for handmade if possible. You're jewelry and play situations are entirely different from creating an AMV. The painting one I can understand somewhat... Especially if your a terrible artist. Though I think anyone can make great amvs with some practice and overall interest.
Turn the situation around dude, She finds out... Who do you think she will be more appreciative of? The guy who paid for her video or the guy that made it?

If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Re: AMVs for money?
2 years ago, I was receiving money for broadcasting some of my amvs in a local channel. In my country amvs arent famous, so originally the purpose was to promote them. But once I started to receive money, I felt like my imagination was leaving me. That was a horrible year for me: 3 amvs in 1 year and none of them of my taste.
So my friend , as you can see in the crow's comments, it's a bad idea to receive money for amvs

Actually my friend, an amv editor called RealNahaj made his first amv in a similar way "if the guy really likes the girl, then he should try to make the AMV"kireblue wrote:I completely agree. What do you think?
Someone has edited AMVs to make money?
As long as you don't make thousands of dollars and announce it to the world, nobody will really care.gotuhjanks wrote: I'm not sure, but can't you get in serious trouble if you really did that?

Re: AMVs for money?
That's just a no go.
Winning money from a contest (lot's of russian contests offer money as prices) is fine in my eyes.
I would edit for money, but only trailer amvs for companies.

Re: AMVs for money?
Imho godix is right, handmade isn't always better - sometimes it's just useless crap you have to display to appease the gift giver. However sometimes "store bought" can be just as useless.
When giving someone anything, you should think about what they would like, what would make the receiver happy. If you can't make it yourself, there is no shame in paying for it.
Perhaps the guy doesn't know anything about making amvs, and sees that megamom has talent for it. I'd take it as a high compliment that someone is willing to pay you.
I don't like the idea of receiving money for making an amv or fanvideo, even from a contest (trophies/bragging rights are good enough for me) due to the legal complications. Even gift certificates are pushing it imho.
However, I've made several requests in my time. They aren't as fun as doing my own ideas (ohgawd Jonas shoot me!) but I guess because I was never on a set schedule I was never under any real pressure or anything it didn't suck all the fun out of it. I still liked seeing the results, even if they aren't my own ideas. Requests are fun things to do to fill time between big projects.
[edit] I really shouldn't try to talk/type when I first wake up...
