Distant Dreams

Now where to start....
I started working on this amv a while back and had very high expectations for it, but I soon realized that editing to Digimon was harder than it looked. Most effects looked awful and would only end up making everything mediocre-like so I decided to cut effects to a minimum. The editing is simple and there's slight references to a plot but with that aside it's just an ordinary video with nothing all that special to it. The timing, as you're probably gonna notice, is off in some parts and the flow is a bit unstable...and so on. But with all that said I still like this video, mainly because it reminds me of how great digimon was back in the day. I remember getting lost in thought every time I saw the show and it fueled my imagination, in a sense, making me the mentally disturbed person I am today :D (not literally of course).
Hope you like it, even if you don't leave some feedback.

Note: I actually finished this amv back in April but I've been too reluctant to post it here, since I'm not the most tech-savvy person when it comes to effectively using the org or the forums. The download file is set to 704x396 because that's the original aspect ratio for most of my sources...if anyone wants an 848x480 file posted then I'll have it up and running promptly.
Thanks to Malik (Mkidkap) for guiding me through the upload process...I was completely lost but now I know how to do all this stuff myself so yea thanks man ;)

Not often you get a good digimon amv on the block. I was surprised.
Nothing I particularly disliked. I was too excited that someone actually made something with digimon, so I let my being biased get in the way of good crit as I was watching.

Not too fond of the song, but it fit the source pretty well, so I didn't mind. I'm glad you kept it simple as well. There was just the right amount of effects, so nothing bothersome in that aspect.
And I always admire good use of hard cuts.

Like you said, it's an ordinary video, but at least it was a good one.
Gj, and keep it up. Looking to see more of your releases

First of all, let me get my biased Digimon fandom out of the way real fast.
Spoiler :
ZOMGSQUEEEITSDIGIMONOMGILOVEYOUWITHTHEPASSIONOFATHOUSTANDHOTSUNSANDWISHTOSNUGGLESYOUREDITINGRIGINNAPROPRIATELY
Tad bit of interlacing here and there.

I saw no point in including the newer two movies. I think the first two digimon season movies would have done the whole thing much more justice.

Black fades made me cringe in horror. :(

I think a more chronological approach [covering the events in the order that they happened] would have made it have a much better flow and sense of concept. As is, it's kind of everywhere.

Oh, and that scene with Taichi looking in horror as the newer digidestined do their jobs for them? THAT SCENE GIVES ME CHILLS. XD

Nice intergration of small and approrpriate effects. The editing was pretty consistent.

Definitely think it needed more of an impact and a better flow to it, but overall, I still enjoyed it and it's heading to my collection and staying there FOREVERS.

4/5

EDIT: And you better make moar digimon movies. :nono:

I fail at giving constructive criticism so I'll just go straight to the point xD
I love this, reminds me why Digimon is worth watching ;D

I really liked this video. I've actually been wanting to make a Digimon AMV for years, but I just cant pick out a song.

Anyway, your song/ anime choice was awesome. You did a really good job at showing the moments that made Digimon an amazing series. But I do agree with Code about how a more chronological scene placement would have improved the flow of this video.

I give this a 4/5

Looked completely random to me, which only leaves me to judge the editing. Editing itself was alright, it felt kind of sloppy most of the time but it wasn't awful.

Fuckin' Epic. So glad someone made a nice digimon video in time for me finishing watching the second season again for the first time in like 10 years! :D
Anyway, yeah sure, it wasn't perfect. But HECK I enjoyed it a lot!

Keep it up :)

Thanks for the feedback, in all honesty I expected to get bombarded with negative comments. Not sure why but I had a feeling of uneasiness while I was uploading this, being a noobie here and all. I always pictured the org as an intimidating place but from what I've seen so far I think I'll like it here 8-) .
But yea Digimon deserves more recognition, it was definitely one of my favorite shows as a kid so I decided on making this as a tribute to the good ol' days.
Glad you like it, and I'll try to make all my posts worthwhile
