Dragoncon AMV Panel

Post by arsienna » Mon Apr 12, 2010 4:43 pm

Salutations a-m-v.org! Aaron here. You may know me as the head of AMVs at Momocon. I also work the anime track at Dragoncon as well. Right now we're looking for any experienced editors out there who would be willing to donate their time to do a panel or two on making AMVs at the convention. Unfortunately I cannot promise a guest badge for this but you will have the endless thanks of the anime track staff if you can help us out.

If you are interested please feel free to PM me here or email me at Arsienna@gmail.com.

If we wanted to do some hands-on work with editing software to show the crowd, would some overhead displays or screens be available to do so?

There should be a projector and a projection screen for you to hook up to, yes.

Are you saying we may have to pay (for our own badge) to help with this panel?

Sorry this response is so late.

To answer your question: Yes. We have a limited budget every year, and with the economy the way it is it's only getting smaller. What money we do have we like to use to bring in voice actors and other industry people, which between transportation, food, and lodging get's really expensive really fast. It sucks that it's like this but it's what we're stuck with.

why do that when you could do something more original? instead of guests, themed cafes with goth lolitas with formal dresscode to encourage cosplay, how about selling imported foods at little kiosks, and having mini japanese language classes for kids. when i tried rosetta stone it was fun, learning japanese is great

Mostly because it's a sci-fi / fantasy / comic convention that has a small anime track.
