A One In A Millon Romance (Aaliyah Tribute With Sailor Moon)

Haven't advertised any of my amvs like this since I made an account here late in '08 but twice so this is my 3rd time doing so since '08, YT's always been my main spot but I want the org to be so too so I can get more experience with a dedicated amv community. This amv is a mix of everything and especially romance. There are 2 versions for download, the first version is 1280x720 and the second one is 640x480 without my Adult Swim intro and credits of the sources used for this amv. I hope some of the Sailor Moon and Aaliyah fans here on the org enjoys this and to everyone else I hope you find it interesting enough, any constructive criticism is greatly recommended and thanks in advance to all those willing to check this out. R.I.P. Aaliyah Dana Haughton, hard to believe it's been almost a decade since her death.

SM Vid? Do Want.

EDIT:

Going to start off with this: I liked the actual part of the video that was the AMV. It's just there was a whole lot of extra stuff I disliked.

Okay let's get the technical aspects out of the way. There is NO reason for this to be 720p, especially not 1280x720p 16:9. Wrong aspect ratio, and clearly an upscale, given that there are no BDs of Sailor Moon. Aside from jaggies I bet were introduced by the upscale, the video quality is good considering SM's age. Stick to 640x480 and rerelease. No wonder you couldn't compress it below 120MB!

Now, style. Your credits at the beginning were simply painful. Just drop them. Your intro was nearly as bad, and I almost thought that was the entire video, and quit right there, trying to figure out how to find a nice way to tell you. That being said, once the actual real song started, I enjoyed the editing, and until you went with the MTV style credits at the end, I was quite pleased with the video. Very old school. Fitting SM very well.

Just give us the meat and potatoes of the video, simple credits before and after the video, in the proper aspect ratio and resolution for SD footage, and then I will add this to my permanent collection.

Again, that may have sounded negative, but I liked the actual video. It's just obscured by all sorts of unnecessary additions.

Also, please stop screwing the search - there's no need to list which song is which in audio sources.

For example, if I wanted to find songs by Aaliyah from you, I'd search and find nothing: see?

I didn't even catch that, Nya.

What Nya is saying is that you did not properly put in your audio sources. You are going to have to request a mod (Admin?) clean it up.

Thanks for the feedback, I have viewers who mostly requested that I put my amvs in 640x480 and 1280x720 for download and that's what I've been doing but I didn't have enough time to upload my 640x480 version of this amv. And as for your request I'll start doing the changes for it and upload it sometime tomorrow. As for the credits at the beginning and at the end I'll take them away only from the 640x480 version, some viewers I know like my beginning credits and others who don't know the animes I use on amvs find out what they are when I add them in like that EVEN when they're in plain view here on the org so I'll leave them in on the 1280x720 version. Now the intro where I begin the amv I'm going to leave intact for the org so it'll go with my concept of the entire video but I'll upload a version without it for you somewhere else with the other changes you wanted intact. That was really the best way to tell me how to do what needed to be done and glad you enjoyed the main part of this amv and felt the concept. And I'll get a request to change my audio sources soon, I'm gonna have to do that for all my amvs and been wanting to but I've been too busy and lazy to do so.

Then your viewers don't understand that the upscale to 720p not only makes the aspect ratio wrong and adds unneeded filesize, but it also does absolutely nothing else. If I have MPlayer set the aspect ratio to 16:9 and fullscreen the 640x480, it will be exactly the same as the 720p version. You can't just add resolution and increase quality. And given the introduction of jaggies, the quality was actually worse, probably.

My issue is with the mishmash of stuff at the beginning. All different styles, all different aspect ratios, all different qualities... It's too much. A simple bumper that says "DNZN Studios" followed by the title of the video before going into the main video is good. The MTV credits are a personal gripe, and also due to how cons work. You can have a list of anime at the end.
Now the intro where I begin the amv I'm going to leave intact for the org so it'll go with my concept of the entire video but I'll upload a version without it for you somewhere else with the other changes you wanted intact.
I expected that. You have a concept and it is part of your concept. I was just letting you know that as much as I love the locket Moonlight Densetsu, I could not watch an entire video of it. And so I had no forewarning of how long that would take, and so I almost shut it off. You do not have to make me own version, unless you really really want to. Unnecessary, but very nice.
That was really the best way to tell me how to do what needed to be done and glad you enjoyed the main part of this amv and felt the concept. And I'll get a request to change my audio sources soon, I'm gonna have to do that for all my amvs and been wanting to but I've been too busy and lazy to do so.
The AMV itself was good, and once I can actually get a copy where I can focus on the AMV instead of being distracted, I will come back and give you more detailed feedback on your actual editing. I'm also glad you didn't get offended at my brusque tone. I really did like the actual AMV.

But I am serious. Stop putting out 720p that isn't natively 720p. Explain to your viewers that it doesn't help, and that they will NOT have a better visual experience. It just doesn't help.

Well the actual video was uploaded on youtube, thats most likely the reason its in 1280 x 720, i mean i wouldn't want to render two times just for youtube and org, but i get what your meaning ;]

As for you jwalk i have already left my thoughts of this video on youtube ;|

On YouTube it won't improve the quality neither - it will just be 720p in bad quality. If you have 480p source, you need just one encode - in 480p

I understand why people who do not realise upscaling is worthless would think they want 720p for YouTube. However, it doesn't matter. There is no benefit to it. So upscaling SD source to HD just because YouTube now has an HD ability is just completely silly.

It saddens me a bit when I see upcoming editors and even editors that's been around the block act like someone kicked them in the back of the head or talked shit about their momma just becuz someone gave them constructive criticism. "THEY ARE HELPING YOU OUT!!" is what I want to say to some of them but a majority can't tell the difference between constructive criticism and just plain criticism. Besides that it's just a video. Anyway I already sent you the link for your own personal version of this, you going out your way to offer advice is enough to make me go the distance uploading it and especially since you like this.
