In a Fight with the World (but I'm Winnin'!)

Normal image posted because my photo-editing program is being defiant. =\
Anyways, this was just a little something I made in my spare time: the idea was on my mind for awhile, but it took awhile to make because I had to re-rip my Eureka seveN episodes. This'll probably be my last E7 video for awhile since I've got other AMVs for other anime in mind. =]

Enjoy (hopefully)!

EDIT: To anyone who's curious as to why I used New Wave: I only used it once, because the OP had a nice clock shot which I needed. ^^;; Everything else is the TV series.

This is probably the only E7 video I've found even remotely fun to watch. Yeah, Joy Division from CCR was cool, and there has been others as well that were fun for one or two views, but this is honestly the first one that I've ever just watched and thought... "Wow." The storytelling was awesome [although a little repetitive and too literal in some parts], and the flow/beat was well done and well executed. I never think black flashes are a good thing, but I'll bite my tongue on this one, because the rest of the video was just spot on and fun. I also wish the visual quality was a tad better, but it's far from anywhere to be overly complained about.

5/5 in my personal opinion [the one that really matters], but in my opinion as an editor, it's 4/5.

3:44/3:45 you got 2 instances of orphan frames here.
----------------------------

Liked the video, it flowed well and fit with the music very well. I thought some of the super sped up stuff didn't really fit, but I liked the video in general.

4/5

720x480 (bad AR), lots of interlacing and orphan frames.

On the other hand nice pacing and lots of fun.

3/5, could be 4-5 if the mistakes were fixed.

I must say. I think you've really done well with this video
It's a pretty solid video. The speedups and masks felt a little weird at times but overall, I'd say that this video is pretty enjoyable and it's great to see that you've made something like this.

I do have to mark you down for technical things. The video is interlaced and the AR is off. I'd really like to see you fix that up and reupload this. The mods are pretty nice about remasters. So please get that done.

I am afraid this one just didn't do it for me. Technical problems aside, I just wasn't interested. Sorry.

Overall good video, it was enjoyable  . Some things could have been done better like the scene selection, masks, and speed ups but it was still good. Some of the technical things in the video(interlacing, wrong AR, orphan frames, blah blah blah) made some of the stuff you did look bad like the masking. I've seen one of your other videos and you're showing some improvement so good job  .

Thanks for the comments and feedback everyone! Though I have to ask this: What exactly are orphan frames and interlacing? I know my AR is off (so I could probably fix that easily) but I'm unsure as to what those other terms refer to. Could you please clarify?

Years ago, Kionon wrote:Telecining

NTSC Film runs at a speed of 24 frames per second (fps). NTSC Video runs at a speed of 30fps. These frames are usually interlaced as well. Showing a film in video requires adding extra frames- 6 for every second. Or for every four frames, add one. Simply removing interlacing from NTSC material will produce an effect where two frames appear to be overlaid, creating an effect known as “ghosting”. If you have deinterlaced, and you get ghosting, then your footage is a prime candidate for inverse telecining, which undoes the telecine process and produces footage that looks right.

Interlacing

Quite literally, interlacing was created to update the image twice as often, but only send half the content. Originally designed to compress video inside radio waves for broadcast television, interlacing only looks right on an old cathode ray tube television. On LCD or plasma monitors/TVs, interlaced content appears as lines where the two half images meet and alternate. Deinterlacing determines how to put the lines in the proper order, creating a sustained clear picture.
Orphan frames are frames that are from a previous scene that end up after an overlay or transition past where they should be.
