Nothing's Wrong

As the editor's info will tell you, this was a spur of the moment idea that sparked when I was creating another AMV. The idea behind this goes like this:

I've wanted to use this song for a while, but didn't know what to pair it with. Then it hit me. In Gunslinger Girl, it was Rico's story stuck with me. Her situation was probably the most jarring. She's unable to see any wrong in anything she does or what she's put through, definately the more robotic and conditioned of all the girls, and yet she's capable of feeling joy or happiness. So much so, that that and her handler are what take top priority with her. It's disturbing, depressing, but at the same time, made her character moreso endearing than Henrietta. I thought that the downed feel of this song compliments her character. The lyrics, admittedly, would be better paralleled with a self-loathing character, but the lyric "What's the matter with me?" (or simply Que Pasa in the spanish version) just seems to stick.

I chose the Spanish version as the primary version because it felt like it fit better and the lyrics are a bit more uplifting. I've put the english version up for download though, so if you like what you see, but dislike this version of the song, feel free to download that instead.

Somethin about the amv i really liked, and for some strange reason i can't point it out... It reminds me of the old days when people actually still had fun making amvs, the anime was pretty good, felt like the scenes flowed very well so yeah i enjoyed it shirker ;]

Wow, that was just an asinine statement.

EDIT: I didn't really like the color corrections in the beginning. And the sync felt out of place and random. It was slow for a couple seconds, and then it was synced to that weird shake-y noise, which kind of threw me off. It felt forced. Also, I haven't seen the anime, so it didn't really mean anything to me, because I thought it was just too "bland," and it didn't really capture my attention. I agree with your decision on using the spanish song though, so  Overall, it was just a so-so from me.

As a fan of both Gorillaz (have CDs and DVD) and GSG (have DVDs and manga) this was an instaget.

Pluses: The combo of the song and the anime - it worked fairly well. Also it had fairly good pacing, though at places it seemed kind of forced. I also liked the colour corrections in the start.
The quality of both video and audio seems fairly good.
And using those sources, ofc - listening to Gorillaz now, b/c of you ;D

Minuses: Randomness of the effects - you should've sticked to some of them, this way they were random and the AMV seems just as a tryout - "what does this effect do?". Also the speedups at places seemed a "little" weird - they are on the edge, though, so maybe they work better for some people.

Also - AR, remember there's NOTHING as 720x480 in PC. It's either 4:3 (640x480) or 16:9 (848:480, usually - this is the case of GSG).

Overally a fine AMV focusing on/dedicated to Rico, though the execution is a little weak - just try to learn from your mistakes, your work seems promising ;+)

3/5 for now, it's higher than 3, though, don't let it bother you (there has to be some objectivity and 3 isn't anything to be ashamed of!)

Not stupid at all... just takes a real mind to know what i meant.
Kinda like over half of org editors edit not for mere fun, but to entertain others and gain popularity...
To say that people don't edit for fun anymore is just immensely stupid. People have their own reasons for editing, but I'm sure people'd get pretty tired of maintaining their status of "popular" if they didn't edit for fun, imo. Also, you don't even know half the people on the org, sorry. Quit making assumptions.
I'm gunna drop this now, because this thread is for discussion of Shirker's amv

Put it this way, you also don't know half of the org editors, so how would you yourself know that they do edit for fun? FAIL!

you should have dropped it by not quoting anything to me, why because its pointless and its pretty stupid for you to even post in the first place...

"I'm gonna have the last word" syndrome? :+)

I think most of the people edit for fun too (it's hard to edit for fame because that comes rarely in this job - on Org, that is). Internal jokes are something completely different and circle jerking too - usually while we do that we have fun too, though ;>

Hmm.. well see he couldn't have said that like you nya, in a nice calm tone that i can actually respect ^_^, well i mean, think about it, when most people started amv making was fun because we usually just threw clips on the timeline and let it run, but what i mainly meant by that is, is that, not most editors don't edit for fun, but more of after doing it for years... im having trouble explaining it, but its like eventually it gets to the point were editors edit even when they don't want to!
