Teacher [GTO]

Post by StarMasayume » Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:40 pm

Hmn well it's been many years ago that I started this... I have in the time being changed computers, lost the hard drive my amvs were on for about 2 years, and then waited around to buying new ram and get programs back on my computer. Which finally happened about a month ago. *insert sweatdrop*

This amv was on my to do list from the early days when I first started learning how to make them, and I finally started it as a side project because well... it needed to be done. The song was perfect and I don't think there are enough (if barely any) decent drama amvs for GTO. Well I worked with what I had and think accomplished what I wanted to. The editing is a mix of old and new, nothing fancy but hopefully still a good watch. Comments/opinions always appreciated. :)

I got this largely because of your join date.

Glad I did.

Old school, and everything I wanted from old school. It really shows what generation you're from, but it isn't just "old." It's difficult to find AMVs with the same classic flavor that are also technically constructed enough not to feel like they're unwatchable.

Also I am a teacher in the Japanese public school system, and I liked your Nei quote. I certainly believe it to be true.

Thanks Kionon! I'm glad you appreciated it. Yeah I was introduced back when it was the old school AMVs that were popular and I suppose it still leaves an impression on me. Simplicity sometimes still works best. I think GTO and the song both fit that style of editing so I never wanted to do anything fancy with it. That.. and also maybe the fact of how long ago I started it it strikes me more how much AMVs have evolved over the years.

I think that's pretty cool that you are a teacher as well! This was a bit of a tribute to you guys as well :)

Not to say I didn't like the second part of GTO but I was disappointed. I friggen LOVED the revenge aspect of the first episode and then it just had to go all 'Golden boy wannabee' :/. meh. I just wish it stayed with the 'evil sensei' shtick and didn't go all 'different side of me- Golden Boy' cuz GB did it BETTER :/ but w/e.

Anyway I got this for some old school lovin and I was not dissapointed. After getting over the expectation of some comic genius out of this series (has NOTHING to do with your video, just can't go into a GTO video without mentioning I NEVER know what to expect) I find this video to be very dramatic and very profound. You did a great job here sir, thankyou.

Loved the video, hated the lip sync and the black flashes, and made me really want to check this series out.

It's not in print any more you'll have to ebay it (rather expensive but not as much as imports), rent it if you can find it, or d/l it, but it's a must watch IMO but a pity it's rather hard to get ahold of.

Knowname - Sorry to hear you were disappointed by GTO, I guess to each their own. I never got into Golden Boy, but maybe that's just my perspective as a girl  who knows. I like the humor in GTO but also liked it's serious side too. In any case, glad you were able to enjoy the video.

Code - Thanks for checking it out. I was really tempted to go back and edit out any effects or lip synching I did forever ago but in the end just let it be. Agree it may be better without any of that.

I hate it when a series I really love is no longer available T_T I was tempted to rebuy the series... most of my discs have gotten scratched over the years and it wasn't the best copy to begin with. Part of the reason why I couldn't get more footage for the AMV. I think Netflix is missing DVDs. This happened to me with Captain Tylor as well... but of course NOW that's available. Hoping if I'm patient enough GTO will be released again as well.

The store next to my apartment has all of GTO. Of course, they're R2s.
