Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Re: War of Two (remastered)
mirkosp, its impossible. Believe to me, I tried. Noise and shake "eat" much of bitrates.
osnar, for what you have written it?
btw, at the international forum I will use international languages - english and русский.

Gaurry: for starters, which x264 build are you using? If it's an older build, perhaps updating could help. And using some insane settings could help too. You can also try toggling with the psy-rd and psy-trellis a bit, I guess... but yeah, I'm pretty sure that the amount you'd be able to cut would be only minimal. You could try to make zones for the scenes without noise and compress them some more for the sake of the noisy scenes, but that would still only help partially. :\

Re: War of Two (remastered)
mirkosp, for coding I use Aggressor's AMVsimple GUI 3.4 (version from March, 1st, 2010). I not so like his vids, but in coding he is good.

Asked Mister Hatt to help me out compressing... we got it to 105 MB, and the quality still holds up.
For starters, you used r1352 of x264, we used a more recent one (r1510, latest and best would be r1564 atm, but he was too lazy to update, and he's the one with the faster rig
). Then we toggled a bit with the settings: we bumped the refs, used some psy-rd, had a lower chroma-offset, slightly increased bframes, used b-pyramid, increased the lookahead a lot, used crf instead of 2pass, lowered the qcomp to settings that would generally be considered stupid (but in fact aren't when there's a lot of noise like this), decreased the qpmin and lowered the aq-strength. We could have used a couple zones too, but he was lazy for that too.
So well, as you can see, toggling with all the parameters at your disposal keeping in mind what they can do *does* help.

Re: War of Two (remastered)
Shaking barely impacts compression at all, and x264 is pretty optimised for handling such things as largescale grain like that. The main reason it compresses badly is that being high motion, it cannot take much advantage of bframes which greatly impacts compression. I think if I spent more time on it I could probably get it to about 80mb but that would be really pushing it.

Ugh.. Honestly everyone is acting like little kids right now. And everything not relevant will get cleaned up. However to address all the whining right now.
You're all at fault here. aerotem, Arashinome, Enigma and SupaKaream for the love of god you guys are annoying. If you don't even fully grasp the situation just keep your mouths shut and stop trying to provoke people. Because honestly you're all acting like terrible trolls right now.
Mirko, cool it looks perfectly acceptable and I agree that the quality/size ratio is a lot better. But fuck just ease it off a little. Right now neither of you are giving way to each other and its not pretty. Not trying to demean you here but you're a mod, act like one.
Gaurry, you too should know better then this. I can understand that you're defensive on the subject. But please don't act like a complete asshole for no apparent reason. Just be the smarter one here and acknowledge that you could have done a better job. Going head to head like this is absolutely pointless and only pisses everyone off.
In short this isn't good for anyone except for the little drama whores, that post shitty little one liners to bait people more.
Shit this is annoying.
On the actual video - While it is a remaster of sorts I do feel that its sub-par to your standards and what I'm used from you. It's not a bad video by any means, just not what I had expected coming from you. The intro and the first compositions [00:08/00:17] made me a little squeamish as they felt extremely bland and sloppy. And I would highly recommend cleaning your silhouettes up a little more next time. The color pallet didn't make much sense to me personally. And didn't really compliment the rest of the video. While I could see this as an experiment, I believe that you'd be better off with a choked/limited color pallet of which one would then increase the saturation. The cuts were solid but nothing breathtaking nor did the story stand out to me all that much. You mentioned you've only seen a few Geass video's yourself and most of those were just straight up action. So I can see where your subtitle "story not about mechs" came from. This might be because I've watched too many Geass video's comparatively, but that element didn't stand out to me as much as you would've probably hoped.
Overall not a bad video, I still enjoyed it for what it was. It was just not what I had expected and/or hoped for.

Re: War of Two (remastered)
This was my point. People (other than Mirko) where neither giving constructive criticism nor accolades. They where just trolling because they do not like you (Gaurry) for whatever reason they had before this thread; and you made it worse by resonding. Honestly, this makes the Non-Russian community look bad to. (I remember this happened in a GFN thread a while back). So, a Mod ought to clean this up or lock it.Niotex wrote:Ugh..
