But one other thing I noticed: why did you IVTC footage that was already at 23.976fps?
Because I don't have a clue about anything regarding dealing with footage that isn't a DVD.

If anybody minds to help me get my RAWS to acceptable quality, I still have all my files still in-tact and can easily just re-export and reencode.
Nice
Definetly a good start of the day :3
I'l leave ya a OP later today.
Thanks Niwa!
What I loved:
The editing. Flow and scene choice were spot on. Most people on #amv and around the forums know I consider Tora Dora one of the bright spots of the last few years in anime. Unlike 90% of the anime coming now, I loved Tora Dora. Knowing the series and loving it as I do, I would not change your scene choices for the vast majority of scenes you used. The ones that I disagreed with are so few as not impact enjoyment at all. As a fan of this pairing from the get go (I never wanted them to end up with anyone else from the first five minutes on), this video pleases me.
What I didn't:
Poor deinterlacing. Sorry Code, jaggies were everywhere. Painfully everywhere. If there is anyway you can go back to your footage and preprocess it over, and use the bait and switch method to export a new version, I would love you forever.
Poor encoding. Also in addition, this video gave me the same amount of pixelation and banding no matter what player I tried it in. In some places, like the early cell phone scene, it just got plain ugly, especially on my main monitor (42" Panasonic).
Not a damn thing to say against the concept or execution of the editing. Pure win. Video quality, however, leaves much to be desired. Really. I desire a new copy with crisp, clean video. DO WANT, etc. This would be favorited and on my Often Rewatched List automatically that way.
Wow. Thank you so much Kionon! Yes, I agree on the visual quality. I'm not intelligent enough to work with footage that isn't a DVD
, but I'll look for some outside help and try and get a re-encoded version sometime this week or next week.
Y'know, to my eyes, the dude doesn't really look happy with either girl. I didn't see any town-lighting smile.
Seriously though, the first verse or so is full of really moody-looking clips, but she's singing about how happy they are hanging out. I think you got a good hold of the song's energy, but the mood was pretty inconsistent. I loved the ending sequence though. The montage did a great job of showing his realization that he belongs with her, and the final kiss shot resolved the story solidly.
Thanks Kit.
I never really thought it looked that moody until you pointed it out, but sure enough, it sure does!
Next time, I'll make sure and hit you up with a beta. xD
I just noticed something I forgot to point >_>... Originally you had had some repetition of clips from earlier in the vid in the flashback B&W scenes...and I liked that, but you changed it >_<.. Oh well, still a pretty good vid.
Thanks NS. You were really helpful in beta testing.
And for that scene, I had about 2-3 of my beta testers mention they didn't like the repeated clips, and I didn't hear any objections from anywhere else, so I went ahead and changed it. xD
