Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Oh my God.

You have such a talent and you... destroy everything! Everything Reda said plus the unfitting slow scenes, some TOTALLY unneeded effects, and a song that... God... Why. You used so many programmes and you could do a masterpiece. But... I'm dissapointed.

A good amv is not the one that has "uber" effects, nor an "ultra-loud" one. Step by step, use efficiently your skills, and then come and amaze us. Until then... :( Sorry m8.

Since this was bumped by Animated and it seems it's not just me thinking this, I'd like to recommend a few things to you.

The first being most of us familiar with you in one way or another know you like CG and using 3D things...if you're going to keep using it as much as you are with anime music videos, finding better more fluid ways of integrating it would not be a bad idea. That's if you REALLY wanted to force it in. My recommendation to you personally would be to keep the two separate entirely...if you like 3D work, do 3D work. If you like AMVs, do AMVs. Maybe keeping the two separate until you get a better hold on each of them would not be a terrible idea. That's not to discourage experimenting, but maybe your experimenting should remain largely unpublished for now. I still have effects work from when I was in high school that I still haven't really shown anyone, and for a reason. When you release a video, consider it publishing it, and consider the possibility of NOT publishing every single thing you make.

Second, I strongly encourage you to look a lot more at the Video guide in the guides section on this website. For someone who's been editing as you have, it's becoming pretty unacceptable not to have technical knowledge of how to get your footage looking good AND in the correct aspect ratio. Take the week or three to learn this and you never have to go back to it again. I'm sure if you put the same effort into that as you did into learning 3D you shouldn't have any troubles at all learning Avisynth and VirtualDub(Mod). Also learn what causes blended frames and how to get rid of them, again, not difficult.

Third, learn song structure, planning, and potentially even some basic film theory. All of these will help you put together a much more powerful video with ease, it'll look better, sync better, and resonate more with your audience. Wikipedia is an excellent place to start for this or even watching other AMVs more frequently.

Integration of 3D in an Anime Music Video is something that takes a lot of skill and polish, and I really don't think it's something you're ready to tackle quite yet considering you're still relatively weak at both of those things. Mixing them together will not produce something desirable. Pick one or the other, or if you choose to stick with both that's wonderful too. For now keeping those fields separate until you learn more would not be a bad idea at all.

He lives in Australia, so assuming that the sources he uses come from DVDs/Blu-Rays he buys there, blended frames are are pretty much impossible to remove since they are likely due to shitty blended input. It's extremely hard to find completely unblended PAL anime footage, and that is probably speeded up. Best thing would be telecined footage, but it's hard to find euro telecine encodes, and even those tend to have some sections blended (namely those that were 29.97 full interlaced in the original source, at least generally).

It's not as if NTSC versions of the DVD's aren't readily available in various locations on the internet...a simple Google search can provide you with any number of ways to procure them. You know this better than most people I'd imagine. It just takes a little bit of extra *gasp* effort.

There's nothing wrong with 3d work in amvs as long as your using it conceptually for something, it's just like FX. In This amv it feels like it's just there for the sake of "Hey look at what I can do.", and really is pointless within the amv.

Find a reason to use it if you really want to, best example I've seen:

Give it a look, maybe you will find some inspiration for your 3D interests within anime.

As for the amv... Meh, sorry did not like it. 2/5
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

getting a little demanding are we? If he doesn't have the budget to buy ntsc versions of everything he edits with than I don't believe we should demand that. Also (and probably not even a question) but not everything would get through customs :).

Anyway I didn't notice 3d shit... unless that was the trippy beginning (which was too dark to see clearly). Yeah that was not my thing. Anyway AMV wise I was caught, towards the end, thinking wtf?? it's like you tried to lip sync part of it? multiple characters to one voice? what?? So that's all, I must be losing it. But I expected better from a tenured member such as yourself. 2/ 5
If you do not think so... you will DIE
