Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Mine to .... Nya has probably only downloaded the series?...

Oh hush, she might just have a different version.
On the back of my Viridian collection box, it says that the DVDs are NTSC 16:9, and they play widescreen when I watch them on my computer. But by the time I turn them into AVIs, and go to edit them, they're no longer widescreen.

Fok, was going by my memory and upon a look on the DVDs....

Yes, 16:9 indeed.

Replace 640x480 with 848x480 in my post, then. This is done in AviSynth, if you have any problems with it, you should ask, there are a lot of people willing to help with learning it as well as many guides.

The raw video streams on your DVD are 720,480. IFO files contain playback information for the vob files so if your just ripping a video stream from the DVD's that information is being lost. You can resize the video stream to the correct AR using Avisynth, 848,480 isn't perfect 16/9 but its mod16 compliant which is good for compatibility all around and the difference is minimal, if you want perfect 16/9 just use any width divisible by 16 and any height divisible by 9.

You could also just set the pixel size in your editing program to the correct widescreen size. If you don't understand this stuff I'd just do the above cause it can get complicating.

Anyway technical flaws aside I enjoyed this a bit but it was kind of weird at times too. Could use some better scene choice and maybe a bit more sync here and there but it looks like you prefer working with emotions and story more then anything. Decent vid here, keep it up.

Pretty sure you commented on my wet thread so I figured I'd return the favor (even if you didn't it's cool). If you need technical help in the future then post in the avisynth section and someone will help you, or PM one of the regulars, I doubt they'd refuse.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate the help.

Thanks. I consider myself to mostly be a Drama editor, so must of my AMVs use mood sync with just a little bit of beat sync. And in terms of scene selection, I really could have done more if I had used my season 2 DVDs. The problem is that the animation style and quality are so different between the two seasons that I decided early on that this AMV would only use footage from the first season. But unfortunately, all of Claes and Triella's character development happens in the second season.
