Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Good lord.

Fuckin brilliant man. So excellent. I agree about the Haruhi scene. It was the one that jumped out and said "I do not belong in this video." If you had recolored her, made her face one solid color maybe, or something like that, it might've been fine.

But that's just one small blemish. The whole video was top notch. Even though you were obviously pulling from pre-made sources you can tell that you have a very strong sense for design and aesthetic. The whole video felt like a cohesive piece and it was damn fun to boot. It's one of the only AMV's I've seen (ever) that honestly could double for a legit/real world music video (from the style perspective anyway). So again, bravo sir.

And this explains the source I couldn't just find! :P
Doesn't make the vid less bad, though, it's a source like any other, in the end.

And then russian editors discovered that AMVs actually use existing footage ...
Where's the difference between using a video clip or any other anime?

Besides, Redona looks way better than the actual video clip (especially for sync), got quite some original scenes too done by Oroshi, and blends multiple animes brilliantly. It ends up in an enjoyable video ... may the amount of efforts done to create be greater than I thought, or not, I can't care less.

Putting aside Redona for the moment.

To be honest, I believe there's a huge difference. Anime as a source is something that needs polishing - you can't compare it to a real music video that was made by professionals and it's visually stunning as it is. When it comes to AMVs you can think of music videos footage as a nearly finished product - you can't say that about twenty something minutes long anime episodes. It's like a difference between cheap, supermarket beef and that high-quality Argentina beef (that I wanted to buy lately but I'm out of luck) when making a steak.

Getting back on track

It's not like this AMV made itself. Someone had to find a good concept for the whole artsy stuff, edit it properly etc.
You need a first-class chef to create a good dish even with best quality ingredients. That is why this AMV gets 5/5 from me and it lands in my fav. AMVs folder  .
